Meeting was called to order by mayor barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Lake absent. The minutesof the Regular meeting of March 29, 1954 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introdu:;ed for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the vacation of a certain public alley, subject to reservations, within the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5846. troduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution A resolution was in relating to the paving of Wilson Street with 6" reinforced concrete, 33 feet back of curb to back of curb from the ea b side of Fifth Street to the west side of Front itreet." r On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor approved the resolut on and it is Numbered 1449. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 230, Resolution Book Number 5. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 300 and 301, (Engineer Job Number 313) as follows: H. J. Taylor Construction Company $5,924.00 C. N McCollum $9,380.00 City Engineer's Estimate 0,441.50 Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company and check returned to unsuccessful bidder. Carried. • 1 C An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contrat with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, Kansaa, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer uistricts 300 and 301, a nd provid- • ing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance referred to the Board of Commissioners. Layor appointed J. Earl Wyatt, C. b. Dodge, Jr. and Harley Rose as appraisers for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers 300 and 301. Approved by Commis- sioner Cobb. Carried. Commissioner Wenger moved that City manager be authorized to sign renewal contract with Kenneth H. baker for the operat_on of a Miniature Steam Train in Ken- wood Park, Salina, Kansas, for the season X954. Carried. City Manager reported on Petition Number 1436 for the curbing and guttering of Hemlock Drive, commencing at Lot 7, Block 9, Replat of Edgemere Addition, to Redwood Drive. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Hemlock Drive from the north line of Lot 7, Block 9, Replat of Edgemere Addition to the center line of Redwood Drive." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition Number 1439, submitted by Dennis Brake, for the rezoning of Lot 3, Block 46, iuilitary Addition be rezoned from Zone "B" to Zone "D". Commissioner Wenger moved. to accept and City Clerk give thirty days notice as required by law. Carried. Petition presented for the paving of Phillips Street from Morrison Avenue to Prescott Avenue. Referred to the City Manager. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Planning Commission: Rezoning Lot 19, on the corner of Republic and Osborne, a part of the Addition to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University from Zone "A" to Zone 'B". +J Rezoning Lots 13, 142 15 and 16, Smith Colvard Addition from Zone "C" to Zone "D". Vacating a ten foot strip of ground adjoining property owners on the East side of Fourth Street between Republic Avenue and Claflin Avenue. Y. M. C. A. Building Permit. Wymore Plat. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb and Cunningham (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent.
