Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 17, 1953• Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 10th, 1953 were ead and
approved as read.
A resolution was introduced for secon# reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving and grading of Wilson �'treet from the East line of Roach
Street tothe West line of Sunrise Drive."
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) layor approved the
resolut on and it is Numbered 1123.
The above resolution is recorded infiill on Page 185, Resolution book Number 5.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes by the City of Salina,
Kansas, for the year 1954.11
On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote
was had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0)
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5803. 1
Commissioner Lake moved that the City Clerk 3e instructed to advertise
for bids for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 297, to be received
up to and including Monday, August 31st, 1953 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll , -,as called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger l5) Nays: l0) ka.yor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered k -663 -
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an

Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-664.
People in northeast Salina, appeared before the Board of Commissioners,
regarding Asphalt Plant owned by Brown and Brown, Inc. Commissioner Lake
made motion that the City Manager do the following:
1. Send sample of leaves to State Board of Health.
2. Have State Board of health make another inspection.
3. Contact Dr. J. K. Harvey.
4. See about Water main.
5. Get statement from doctors on any sickness.
Motion carried.
Commissioner Cobb moved that City Attorney file permanent injunction for
removal from CLty of Brown & Brown, Inc. Asphalt Plant; provided, however, if
water instal1cion is satisfactory to people it will be withdrawn. Carried.
Commissioner made motion that City Attorney be authorized to spend not
more than $500.00 to make tests and investigation on above named Asphalt Plant.
Carried.

Letter was received from City Planning Commission recommending that petition
presented f rom Loran Constable for t he rezoning of the East side of the 900 $lock
on North Ninth Street from Zone "B" to Zone "D" be denied. Commissioner
Cunningham moved to accept recommendation. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the Board f Commissioners adjourned.
