AUGUST 10, 1953 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 10, 1953• Meeting was called to order by iIayor bar, cafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer, Cunningham, Lake and Vienger and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Cobb absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 3, 1953 were read and approved as read. ° Budget for the year 1954 was taken up by the Board of Commissioners. hr. T. L. Willis was present and asked a number of questions. Commissioner Lake moved that 1954 Budget be adopted as published. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes by the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 19;4." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to -he paving of Eighth Street from the North line of Grand Avenue to the South line of Woodland Avenue." l i On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was :alled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Bar- cafer., Cunningham, Lake and Vvenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Cobb absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1421. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 181 Resolution Book Number 5. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levy- ing special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots and the parkways abutting thereof in the City of Salina, Kansas." I On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finaladoption the roll was alled and the following vote was had: Ayes: Barcafer, Cunningham, Lake and Yrenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Cobb absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5802. i Application for Cereal Malt Beverage L,cense presented from I. W. Olson, E. B. Johnson and Ross F. Hall, d/b/a "Ace High Tavern", 129 North Fifth Street in the City of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Cunningham moved that appli- cation be approved nd license granted. Carried. City I,lanager reported on Petition Number 1405 for the paving of Wilson i Street from Roach to Sunrise. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the paving and grading of Wilson Street from the East line of Roach Street to the West lire of Sunrise Drive." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Engineer filed Estimate Number 1 to Brown & Drown, Inc. in the amount of I x;,2,484.54 for paving Off -Street Parking Lot on North Fifth Street. Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried. Petition was presented for tl.e rezoning of the East side of the 900 Block on f Borth Ninth Street to Local Business. Referred to City Planning Commission. City Engineer filed Partial Estimate Number 2 in the amount of $9162.36 to Brown & Brown, Inc. for paving, curbing and guttering Crawford avenue frog: Union Pacific Railroad Right -of Way to Roach Street. (Job No. 305). Approved by Commis- sioner Lake. Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary N to of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of Q`9162.36 to pay a portion of the cost of improving a certain street in the City ! of Salina, to be designated as Series PT -15 pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger �4) 1Jays: lO) Commissioner Cobb absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1422. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 182, 183 and 184, Aesolution Book Number 5.
