COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS
JULY 6, 1953
Regular keeting of the Board of Commissioners July 6, 1953• Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 29th, 1953 were read and approved
as read.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving of Roach Street from the north line of McAdams Road south to
the south line of Martin kvenue."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafer,
Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Vienger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is slumbered 1414.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 164 Resolution BDok Number 5.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Lake�he ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption t.e roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered A -6561.r
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an

Commissioner Lake moved that applications be approved and license granted.

Letter presented from Kenneth E. Shank, relating to erection of Mausoleum in
the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners.
Mayor informed Mr. Shank that Commissioners do not wish to do anything at
this time.
Petition was presented for the paving of Ellsworth Avenue from Highland Cir-
cle to Pershing Street. Referred to City Manager.
Commissioner Wenger moved that application from Rogers Oatdoor Advertising ,
Sign permit forLot 89, on iJorth Fifth Street, Original Town of Salina be approved
subject to provision that lattice work be installed at bottom of sign. Carried.
Mayor appointed Wm. W. Yost as a member of Board of Trustees of Salina Muni-
cipal Band for a term of three years from January 1, 1953• Appointment confirmed
by Commissioner Lake. Carried.
�' City Engineer filed plans and specifications for the curbing, guttering and/or
paving certain streets provided for in Ordinances Numbered 5791 and 5792, (Engineer
Job 310).
Commissioner Wenger moved to accept and that City Clerk be instructed to ad-
vertise for bids for said improvements to be received up to and including, Monday,
July 20th, 1953 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Motion adopted.
Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for
the erection of a Rest Room on Off -Street Parking lot on North Fifth Street,
across from City Hall, as follows:

Commissioner Cobb moved to accept bid of Joe E. Willett and the Fink
Plumbing company, and return checks or bonds to unsuccessful bidders. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Lake the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 6, 1953• Meeting was
called to order by Mayor barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded.
Meeting was held for the purpose of acting on Appraisers Reports for the
construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 292, 293, 291, 295 and 296, and
for Main Sewer "AB".
No protests. Commissioner Cunningham moved to approve. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Lake the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
