Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 29th, 1953• Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer, j
Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and iienger and City Attorney Clark responded.

The minutes of the iiegular Meeting of June 22, 1953 were read and approved
as read.

Commissioner Lake moved that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for
the sale of Water Revenue fonds in the amount of �1,000,00U.00, to be received up to
and including Monday, July 132 1953 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Lotion adopted.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
No. 1401 For paving Roach from McAdams to Martin. Commissioner Lake moved
that a resolution be introduced for first reading.

A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution •
relating to the paving of Roach Street from the north line of McAdams Road to the
south line of Martin Avenue." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commis-
sioners.

Petition No. 1400 For sewer on Chester from Missouri Pacific Railroad to
Rock island railroad. Commissioner Wenger moved to table indefinitely.
Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for and authorizing the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina,
Kansas, in the sum of $625,700.76 to pay the cost of constructing main sanitary
sewers and certain lateral sanitary sewers and storm sewers in the City of Salina,
Kansas, which bonds shall be designated as Series S-158.11
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Ylenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is Numbered 5789•
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the amendment of sub -division t1C" of Section 1 of Ordinance Number
5660 and providing for the repeal of orfkinal.-sub-division."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was r ead and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the followin vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (O� Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5790.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance •
providing for the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Marietta Street
from the west line of Clark Street to the east line of Chicago Street; for the
curbing, guttering, paving and grading to a width of forty (40) feet, Crawford
Avenue from the east line of Missouri Pacific Railroad right-of-way to the center
line of Broadway Boulevard, known as U. S. Highway No. 81, By -Pass; for the
paving and grading of Connecticut Avenue from the south line of Gypsum Avenue to
the south line of Stack Avenue; for the paving and grading of Kenison Road from
the south line of Wilson Street tothe south line of McAdams Road; for the paving
and grading of Oakdale Avenue from the north line of Ash Street to he south line
of Elm Street, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof, how the same
shall be assessed and the manner of the payment of the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called a.id the following vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5791.

providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of the north side of Cloud Street
from the center line of Eleventh Street to the center line of Pershing Street;
for the curbing, guttering and grading of Eleventh Street from the center line of
Hamilton Street to the center line of Antrim Street; for the curbing, guttering and
grading of the east side of Fourth Street from the center line of Lamar Street to
the center line of Republic iLvenue; for the curbing, guttering and grading of the j
south side of Martin Avenue from the east line of Lewis kvenue to the west line of
Ohio Avenue; for the curbing, guttering and grading of Second Street on the west
side , from the center line of Wilson Street, 200 feet south from the south line

On motion of Commissioner Sunningham the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is Numbered 5792.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces
of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas to pay the cost of construction of Intercept-
ing Sewer "AA", and relating to and providing forrhe collection and payment of such
assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is Numbered 5793,
City Engineer filed Final Estimate in the amount of $39,600.00 to H. J.
Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain Sewage Pumping Station
(Intercepting Sewer "AA") improvement. Approved by Commissioner Lake.
Carried.

A resolution was. introduced entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and providing'
for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $39,600.00
to pay the cost of certain Sewage Pumping Improvement in the City of Salina to be desig—
nated as ST -18, pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption tr_e roll wad c alled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafer,
Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 1410.

City Engineer filed Final Estimate in the amount of $3393.69 to H. J.
Taylor Construction Company for curbing, guttering and/or paving improvements provided
for Engineer Job 300. Approved by Commissioner Lake.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and providing!
for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of
$19,324.57, to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of
Salina, to be designated as Series PT -14 pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost
of said work."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafe
Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and
it is Numbered 141.1.

tion Ibok Number 5.
A resolution was introduced and passed"relating to street lighting service,
(The Kansas Power and Light Company.0 ".
On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the resolution was adopted as read and
on its final adoption the roll was cal led and the following vote was had; Ayes: Bar-
cafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolu-
tion and it is Numbered 1112.

A resolution was introduced and passed grafting the Rock Island Railroad
Company permission to dig a trench for 6 -inch undergrade water pipe line crossing
Second Street.
On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the resolution was adopted as read
and on its final adoption t e roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham, Lake and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 1113.

Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License presented from Floyd Jennings,,
d/b/a "Deluxe Smoker" 138 North Santa Fe Avenue. Commissioner Cunningham
kmoved that application be approved and license granted. Carried. j
City Engineer filed Estimate Number 1 in the amount of $7,883.83 to Layne -
Western for Water Wells. Approved by Commissioner Cobb. Carried. !
Commissioner Lake moved that papers for City Commissioners meeting be filed
by Saturday noon. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Lake the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
