DECEMBER 15, 1959
Regular Meet-ing of the Board of Commissioners December 15th, 1959. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor McCune, the roll was called and Commissioners McCune,
Bull, Exline, Jaeger and Ramsey and City Att:orney Barta responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meetingof December 8th, 1959 and Board of Zoning
Appeals Meetingof December 8th, 1959 were read and approved as read.
City Manager reported on Petition Number 2311 protesting the pavin of
White Avenue and SthithOkr Str eet. 70%against (Sufficiertt)
Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept report and notify petitioner.
The following resolutions were introduced for second reading:
"A Resolution relating tothe curbing, gutte rims paving and grading of
Eighth Street with asphalt, Thirt_�r-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back
16 of curb, from the south line of Lincoln Avenue to he north line of the Union Pacific
R. R. right-of-way.11
On motion of Commissioner Bull the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Bull, Exline, Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and
it is Numbered 2279.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Republic Avenue with
concrete, Twenty-eight (28) feet wide fromtoe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the
west line of Beatrice Street tothe West line of Ohio Street."
On motion of Commissioner Bull the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Bull, Exlire, Jaeger and Exlire (5) Nays (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 2280.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Martin Avenue with
concrete::, Twenty-eight (28) feet wide fromtoe of gutter to toe of gutte r, from t he
west line of Beatrice Avenue tothe wrest lire of Ohio Str eet ."
On motion of Commissioner Bull the resolution was adopted as`r ead and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Bull, Exlims Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and
it is Numbered 2281.
"A Resolution relating to the paving andgrading of Venango Str eet with
concrete, Twenty-eight (28) feet wide fromtoe of gutte r totoe of gutter , from the
w est line of Sheridan Street to he east line of Custer Street."
• On motion of Commissioner Bull the resolution was adopted asread and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Bull, Exline, Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and
it is Numbered 2282.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Venango Street with
concrete Twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, f rom the
w est line of Sheridan Street tothe east line of Merrill Street."
On motion of Commissioner Bull the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Bull, Exlire0 Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 2283.
Ordinance introduced for secon3 reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for
the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 5549 and the ZoninDistrict Map therein and
thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and
prescribing the proper~ uses thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by s ections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
McCune, Bull, Exlij, Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) ,Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6399.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled : "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contras t with Armco Drainage and Metal Products, Inc., for the
• construction of guard rails , as designated and authorized by Resolution Number 2227,
and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the
issuance and sale of bonds.11
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections __..
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
McCune, Bull, Exline, Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6400.

and paving Bel -Air Drive from Cloud Street to Cloud Street."

of Craw ford Avenue.
Crawford Avenue, pavirg, grading and curbing 41' back to back
of curb from the wwest line of Marymount Road to the west
line of Rolling Hills Addition .
Starlight Drive, paving, grading and curbing 33' back to back
of curb, from the north line of Crawford Avenue tothe west line
of Marymount Road.
Aspen Road, paving, grading and curbing 33' feet back to back
of curb from the east line of Starlight Drive to the north
line of Crawford Avenue.
Ridglea Drive, paving, grading and curbing 33' back to back
of curb from the west line of Rolling Hills Addition to the
west line of Briarcliff Road.
Briarcliff Road, paving, grading and curbing 33' back to
back of curb, from the north line of Craw ford Avenue to the
south line of Starlight Drive.
Clarement Drive, paving, grading and curbing, 33' back to
back of curb, from the north line of Starlight Drive to the
north line of Rolling Hills Addition.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey, Report accepted by the Board of Com-
missioners.
Resolution introduced and passed"relating to construction of South Ohio Street
Smoky Hill River Crossing in the City of Salina, Kansas"
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Bull, rxline, Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 2284.
Commissioner Exline moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading
for condemnation of easements and rights for Flood Control.

Letter presented from Building Inspector of Salina, Kansas, relating to
two moving buildings violations, houses located at 1023 North Third Street and
1035 North Third Street.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer the matter to the City Attorney.
City Engineer filed the following estimate:

Petition presented f or Paving, Sanitary Sewers, Storm Sewers and Water Mains
in Jarvis Addition.
On motion of Commissioner Bull referred to City Manager.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Jaeger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: McCune, Bull, Exline, Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered A-993.
On motion of Commissioner Jaeger the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for South Ohio Street Smoky Hill River
Crossing under Resolution 2284.
Commissioner Exline made the motion to approve and accept and advertise for bids on
January 12, 1960. Carried.
