11-04-1958 Minutes1 • • 1 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. NOVEMBER 4, 1958 Regular Meeting of the Board of C6mmi.ssioners November 4th, 1958. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Jaeger, the roll was called and Commissioners Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular -Meeting of October 28, 1958 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the for Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 374 to "AG";, as follows: (Job 377) 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Company C. N. McCollum Construction Company Engineer's Estimate; official City paper bids were received 379 inclusive and for Main Sanitary Sewer $31,944.50 $33,081.50 $39,980.50 Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract be awarded to O.D.Wilmoth Construction Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $31,944.50, and check returned to unsuc- cessful bidder. Commissioner McCune moved that contra t ordinance for Job Number 377 be intro- duced for first reading. Ordinance passed: / ��� ( Number Mayor appointed J.Earl Wyatt, C. B. Commissioner Exline moved that resolution be introduced for first reading for curbing, guttering, paving and grading North Third Street from North line of Iron Avenue to bank of Smoky Hill River. Resolution passed: , Number______ An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled::: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with the Brown and Brown Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of Temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6281. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitledc:: "An ordinance pro- viding for and authorizing the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $221,742.13, to pay the cost of constructing Intercepting and Main Sanitary Sewers and certain Lateral Sanitary Sewers, and Pumping Stations in the City of Salina, Kansas, which bonds shall be designated as Series S-180." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays:. (0) Mayor approved the ordi- nance and it is Numbered 6283. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled : "An ordinance author- izing and providing for the issuance of. IMprovement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, all in the sum -of. $381001.27, to pay the cost of improving certain streets in said City tote designated as Series Number P-179." City Manager reported on the following petitiom 2109 Paving with concrete North Second from North to Railroad Avenue. An ordinance was introduced for second rsading entitled.:.: "An ordinance con- demning certain land within the City of Salina, Kansas, for the use of said city in the widening and extending of Ohio Street in the City of Salina, K ansas, to the south line of. Albert Avenue, and Max Avenue from the east line of Quincy Street to the west line of Norton Street, and Max Avenue from a point on Max Avenue Two Hundred Three and five -tenths (203.5) feet east of the east line of Norton Street to the center line of Roach Street; fixing a benefit district therefor; and providing for the payment of the cost thereof." The following petitions were presented and on motion of Commissioner Ramsey referred to the City Planning Commission: Plat for Hazelwood Addition. Rezoning Rocket Motel property from "A" to "D" Rezoning Tracts 2, 3 and 4 in Surveyor's Plat 51 from "A" to "F" Light. Industrial, Mayor appointed LeRoy A. Padgett a member of Electrician's Board to fill vacancy caused by the death of Webb Johnson; term of office to expire July 24, 1960. Appointment confirmed by Commissioner Ramsey. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, aline, McCune_.
