08-19-1958 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR. MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS AUGUST 190 1958 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 19, 1958. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Jaeger, the roll was called.and Commissioners Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of Budget Hearing Meeting of August 8, 1958 and Regular Meeting of August 12.,. 1958 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal.bids were received for the curbing, guttering.and concrete paving of cer twin streets provided for in Engineer Job 375 as follows: Wilmoth Construction Company, Inc., $189,743.00 Brown and Brown, Inc. $190,798.00 Engineer's Estimate $200,890.00 Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to Wilmoth Construction Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $189,743.00; and check returned to unsuccessful bidder. Carried. Contract Ordinance for Job 375 introduced for first reading. Ordinance passed: Number �r Mayor appointed J. Earl Wyatt, Wm. F. Urosse r,.Jr. and Robert Frederick as appraisers for Job 375• Approved by Commissioner Exline. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with the Salina Asphalt Inc., Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on cer _tain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas and providing for the issuance of temporar y notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was;_ had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline., McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays : (0) Mayor approved the ordi- nance and it is Numbered 6263. Commissioner McCune moved to accept and receive bids September 9, 1958 at four o'clock P. M. Carried. Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted Estimate Number 13 in the amount of $4806.49 to Jarvis Construction Company, for Iron Avenue Bridge. Approved by Commissioner McCune. The following petitions were presented and.on motion of Commissioner Wenger referred to the City Manager: Curb, Gutter and Concrete Paving Elm Street from College to Chicago. Asphalt paving Dover Drive in Sunset Village Addition. For str eet light on the corner of Cloud and Roberts. • The following petitions were presented and on motion of Commissioner Wenger referred to City Planning Commission: For the rezoning -of the West 25 feet Lot 12 and East 37j feet Lot 10, Block 5, College View Addition from "A" to "B". For rezoning to "F" Light Industrial Lots 11,13,15,17,19, Block 11, Pacific Addition. Concrete Construction Bond received from Raymond Goff. Approved by Commissioner McCune. Application for Cereal Malt Beverage presented from Hope L.Ringer, d/b/a "Bud's Bomber" 739 North Eleventh Street. Approved by Commissioner McCune. Application for Trailer Court, Lot 9, on Euclid, College Court Addition. Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Planning Commission. Commissioner Exline moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading pro- viding for the condemnation of certain property for a flood control system for Salina, Kansas. Ordinance passedNumber _ •
