Meeting was called to order by Mayor Jaeger, the roll was called and Commissioners Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regula r Meeting of July 29, 1958 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal 'bids were received for Street Improvements provided for in Job 380 as follows: Brown and Brown Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $348,416.00 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Company, Salina, Kansas: $351,172.00 Stannard Construction Company, Wichita, Kansas $461,570.00 Swenson Construction Company, Kansas City, Missouri $409,180.00 • Engineer 's Estimate $369,281.00 Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to Brown Construction Company as low bidder and return checks to unsuccessful bidders. Carried. Commissioner Wenger moved that contract ordinance be introduced for first reading. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots, and the parkways abutting therein in the City of Salina, Kansas". On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6259. City Engineer filed plans for Street Improvement Job 376. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. City Clerk instructed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including Tuesday, August 12th, 1958 at four o'clock P. M. Carried. Letter from Wilson Engineering Company on Flood Control. To hold meeting Tuesday evening to go over. Letter from State Highway Commission of Kansas relating to proposed improvement project on US -81 between Crawford Street and Ash Street in the west part of Salina. Commissioner Exline moved ordinance be introduced for first reading. Commissioner Wenger moved to allow three months extension. Carried. Letter received from Y M C A relating to Model Airplane Club called the "Salina Flight Masters". Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Recreation Department. Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License presented from Francis R. Fisher d/b/a "Ritz Tavern" 101 North Broadway. Commissioner Wenger moved to approve subject to sanitation. Carried. City Attorney advised to refer Neely Beer Application to Welfare Board. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. The City Clerk reported that the proposed assessment roll for the following improvements, to wit: (a) Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete of all streets streets in Sunset Manor Addition except those on the east side of Broadway Boulevard; (b) Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete all streets in Edgemere Addition except Willow and Redwood Drive from Lot Thirteen (13) Block Five (5) South, Birch Drive from Lot Ten (10) Block Eight (8) South, Hemlock Drive from Lot Eight (8) Block Nine (9) South, and Cherokee from Pueblo to Republic Street. (c) Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete of all street s in Likins-Foster Addition except Oak Street from Pawnee Midway to Bachtold Avenue. • (d) Paving with seven (7) inch reinforced concrete of Crawford Avenue from the west line of Steahlin Avenue to the west line of Edgemere Addition. as authorized by Resolution of the Board of Commissioners on the 15th day of July 1958 and the City Clerk was directed to cause the following notice to be published in the official city paper at least once not less than ten (10) days prior r to the date of the meeting: NOTICE OF HEARING ON PROPOSED ASSESSMENTS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN STREETS. TO ALL PERSONS CONCERNEDt The Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, will meet in the Commission room in the City Hall on the day of 1958 at 4:00 o'clock P.
