JULY 29, 1958
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 29, 1958. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Jaeger, the roll was called and Commissioners Jaeger, Exline
and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners McCune and Ramsey abs ent.
The minute s of the Regular Meeting of July 22, 1958 were read and approved
as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro-
viding for the paving and grading of Beatrice Street , twenty-eight (28) feet wide
from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
inch crushed rock base, from the north line of. Martin Street to the south line of Republi
Avenue; Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Beach Street thirty-three (33.) feet
wide from bac k of curb to back of curb, with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Cloud Street to the north line of Winona
Street; paving and grading of Cedar Street twenty-eight ( 28) feet wide from toe of gutte
to toe of gutter, with two inch hot as p t mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base,
from the west line of College Avenue to the eas.t line of Missouri Pacific Railroad;
curbing, gutteringpaving and grading of Fourth Street , thirty-one (31) feet wide from
back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch
crushed rock base, from the south line of Minneapolis Avenue to the north line of Kirwin
Avenue; Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Grand Avenue thirty-seven (37) feet
wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
crushed rock base, from the west line of Broadway Boulevard to the east line of Barney
Street; Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Harsh Avenue thirty-three (33)
feet wide from back of curb to back of curb with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a
six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Eleventh Street to the east line
of Twelfth Street ; Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Millwood Drive thirty-
three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb with two 2 inch hot asphalt
mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Roach Street to the
west line of Ohio Street ; Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Osage Avenue
thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two 2 inch
hot as phalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Cloud
Circle to the south line of Paw nee Avenue; Curbing, guttering, paving and grading of
Roach Street thirt -three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb with two (2)
inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock baste, from the north line of
Manor Road to the sout line of Crawford Avenue; paving and grading of Stack Avenue
twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter. to toe of gutter with two 2 in
hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock bas e, from the east line of Delaware
Avenue to the east line of Missouri Avenue; Curbing, guttering and grading of Stack
Avenue from the west line of first alley east of Delaware Avenue to the east line of
Missouri Avenue; paving and grading of Vassar Drive twenty-eight (26) feet wide from
toe of gutter to toe of gutter , with two 2 in hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch
crushed rock base, from the south line of Republic Avenueto the north line of Windsor
Drive; curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Wayne Avenue thirty-three (33) feet
wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot as phalt mix over a six
(6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Roach Street to the west line of
Quincy Str eet; paving and grading of Quint Street twenty-eight (28) feet wide from
toe of gutter to toe of gutter with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch
crushed rock bans, from the south line of Albert Avenue to the south line of Leslie
Avenue; curbing, guttering and grading of the west side of Quincy Street from the
center line of Leslie Avenue to the center line of Albert Avenue; and providing for the
payment of the cost thereof, and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of the
payment of the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was, had; Ayes:
Jaeger, Exline and Wengee (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6256.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance for the
vacation of North and South Alley within the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Jaeger, Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6257.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Max Avenue thirty-three (33)
feet wide from back of curb to back of curb with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a
six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west side of Lot 7, Block 4, Addition to
Blocks 4 and 6, Southern View Addition to the west side of Roach Street."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the foil was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
Exline and Wenger r{3� Nays; (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2045.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Ral h Avenue thirty-three
(33 ) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two inch hot asphalt mix
over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Lot 7, Block 6, Addition
to Blocks 4 and 6, Southern View Addition, to the west line of Roach Street."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline,
and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 2046.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Smith Avenue thirty-three (33) feet
wide from back of curb to back of curb, with twoT2 inc hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Hageman Street to the east line of Broadway
Boulevard."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution wase adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll wascalled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline
and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor approved
• the resolution and it is Numbered 2047.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Hageman Street Thirty-three (33) feet -t.
wide from back of curb to back of curb with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
inch crushed rock bas e, from the south line of Cloud Street to the east line of Broad-
way Boulevard."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was -adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll.was called and the following vote was: had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline
and Wenger. (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 2048.
A resolution wase_ introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of High Place with concrete, thirty-three
(33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, from the east line of Highland Avenue
to the west line of Simmons Street."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote wass had; Ayes: Jaeger, Ex -
line and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent.. Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 2019.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Simmons Street with concrete, thirty-
three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, from the south line of Leslie
Avenue to the north line of Wayne Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
• Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor ap-
proved the resolution and it is Numbered 2050-
A resolution was; introduced for second reading entitled: A Resolution relating
to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of DuVall Street with concrete, thirty-
three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of cur rom t e north line of Haven
Avenue to the south line of Beverly Drive."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was: adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2051.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of South Street with concrete:, thirty-
three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, from the east line of Broadway
Boulevard to the east line of Clark Street."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption. the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline
and tenger 0) Nays: (0 Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 2052.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of South Street with concrete
Thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb,2rom the east line of Clark
Street to the west line of Montrose Street."
• On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline
and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Ramsey absent. Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 2053.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading for the concrete paving of
certain streets provided for in En *neer. Job 375•
