06-24-1958 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINAS KANSAS JUNE 24, 1958 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 24, 1958. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Jaeger, the roll was called and Commissioners Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 17, 1958; and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of June lidth, 1958 were read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled : "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Twelfth Street , thirty- three (33) feet wide from back of curb toback of curb, with two 2 inch hot Asphalt Mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock baste, from the south line of Harsh to the south line of Hamilton." On motion of Commis sioner Ramse the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2021. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled : "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Grand Avenue , thirty- seven (37) feet wide from back of curb to b ack of curb, with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Broadway Boulevard to the east line of Barney Street." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2022. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sidewalks, for the payment of the cost thereof', and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that extension of Traco Trailer Court be approved. Commissioner McCune moved to accept and have Hearing July lst, 1958. Carried. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Storm Sewer in Schippel Addi- tion and Circle Addition. Commissioner McCune moved to approve and City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids to be received Tuesday, July lst, 1958 at four o'clock P. M. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bidswere received for one 1958 Police Special two -door sedan, eight cylinder as follows: Jim Sullivan Chevrolet Company Chevrolet $1200.00 • Long -McArthur, Inc Ford $ 818.00 Peterson Pontiac, Inc., Pontiac $ 700.00 Commissioner Exline moped to award bid to Peterson Pontiac, Inc., as low bidder. Carried. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled : 'IWHERB9S�':A;petition containing the required number of signatures of resident property owners has been presented and filed with the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, and said petition is found sufficient and in compliance with the law, petitioning that Smith Avenue be curbed, guttered, graded and paved twenty-six (26) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Haskett Avenue to the west line of Broadway Boulevard. That said petition has been ordered spread of record." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2023. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled "An ordinance pro- viding for the condemnation of cer.tain property for the purpose of providing necessary land and easements for the use of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the developing, constructing, maintaining and operating of a Flood Control System for said City of Salina, Kansas ." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6251. 0 1I Letter presented from City Planning Commission relating to relocation of Wayne Avenue. Denied. Commissioner Ramsey moved to approve and accept. Carried. Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License presented from Earl S. Mabie, d/b/a "The Yankee Clipper" 136 North Santa Fe Avenue. Commissioner Wenger moved that application be approved and license granted. Petition presented on Fire Haz and in the 600 Block on North Fifth Str eet, Commissioner Ramsey moved petition be referred to City Attorney. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an ap- propriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordina and it is Numbered A-913. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned. •City Clerk
