JUNE 17, 1958
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 17, 1958. Meeting was
called to order by meting Mayor McCune, the roll was called and Commissioners McCune,
Exline and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 10t , 1958 and Zoning Board of Ap-
peals Minutes of January 10t , 1958 werexead and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled : "An ordinance levy-
ing special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing cer-
tain sewer and water service pipes and connections in certain streets in the City of
Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
• and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
McCune, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6244.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying
and confirming a contract with the Brown and Brown Construction Company for the resur-
facing improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, ansas, and providing
for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale
of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinancewas read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
McCune, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent. Act
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 62115•
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance provid-
ing for the inclusion of certain land within the corporate limits of the City of Salina,
Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Exline. the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
McCune, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners ;Jaeger and Wenger absent. Ac
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6246.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading a titled : "An ordinance pre-
scribing the salaries of certain officers of.the. City of Salina, Kansas, and repealing
Sections 1-602 to 1-609 both inclusive, of Ordinance Number 6113."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:

An ordinance was introduced for second reading. entitled: "An ordinance provid-
ing for the construction of certain storm sewers and drainage in the City of Salina,
Kansas, to be designated as Schippel Addition Storm Sewer and Circle Addition Storm
Sewer, and providing for the letting of contract for such construction and for the pay-
ment of the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance w as r ead and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
McCune, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nayss(0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent. Act-
ing Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6248.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled : "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Fourth Street Thirt y -one (31)
feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two T27inch hot asphalt mix over a
six (6) inch crushed rock bas e, from the south line of Minneapolis Avenue to the north
line of Kirwin Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune, Exline,
and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent. Acting Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2016.
A Resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the paving and grading of Des Moines Avenue with concrete, Twenty-eight (2+8)
feet wide from face of curb to face of curb, from the north line of Ash Street to the
south line of Elm Street."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent. Acting
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2017.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the paving and grading of Cloud Street with.c.oncrete, Forty-four point 5
(44.5) feet wide from face of curb to face of curb from the east line of Highland Avenue
to the west line of Fourth Street."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2018.
Commissioner Exline moved that rjrdna4jae3;e introduced for first reading
providing for Condemnation of Flood Control land.
Ordinance passed Number
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled "A Resolution directing
and ordering a public hearing on the advisability of street improvements in cer tain
districts and giving notice of such hearings."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2019.
A petition was, presented for the curbing, guttering and paving and grading of
Smith Avenue thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb with two
(2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock bas e, from the east line of
Haskett to the west line of US 81 By*ass,Broadway Boulevard. 4
Commissioner Exline moved to approve petition andZ-
Application presented from W. J. Conner to transfer his Beer License Number
3448, from 156 North Santa Fe Avenue to 117 South Fifth Str eet (Dan's Tavern).
Approves by Commissioner Exline.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager:
Curb and gutter the north side of Jewell. Avenue from Funston, 125 feet , west.
Curb, gutter and paving with concrete, Cloud Street from east line of Roach
to the east line of Lewis.
Wilson Engineering Company get plans ands pecifications for Dry Creek Bridge
east of Mentor and culverts.
Approved by Commissioner Exline.
Ordinance introduced for first reading, for sidewalk construction.

for first reading:
Curb, gutter and paving West Grand Avenue from west line of Broadway
Boulevard to west line of Barney Str eet.

On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, June 17, 1958. Meeting was called to order
by Acting Mayor McCune, the roll was called and Commissioners McCune, Exline and Ram-
sey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent.
Hearing was held on Appeal Notice filed by Art Yeagley, for non-compliance with
the side yard requirements of Ordinance Number 5549 for all of Lot 18, Block 46,
Military Addition (1117 North Eighth Street ).
No protests..
A resolution waa introduced and passed entitled : "A Resolution relating to
the authorization of non-compliance with the Side Yard Requirements of Section 5,
Paragraph 2 and section 6 of Ordinance Number 5549 for Lot 18, Bloch 46, Military Addi-
tion in the City of Salina., Saline County, Kansas ."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune,
Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays, (0) Commissioners Jaeger and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2020.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey, Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned.
