JUNE 10, 1958 Regular- Meet ing of the Board of Commissioners June 10th, 19589 Meeting was called to order by Mayor- Jaeger,_the roll was called and Commissioners Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 3rd, 1958 were mad and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for Water Tank as follows: Pittsburgh -Des Moines Steel.Company $69,470.00 Chicago Bridge and Iron Company $76,970.00 W. E. Caldwell $83,540.00 The Darby Corporation $65,934.00 Engineers Estimate $842000.00 • Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract be awarded to The Darby Corporation as per bid submitted in the amount of $65,934.00 and checks returned to unsuccess- ful bidders. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal for surfacing certain streets provided for in Engineer Job 374 as follows: Brown and Brown, Inc., $1o6,705.00 Inland Industries $116000.00 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Company $122030.00 Engineer 's Estimate $1272410.00 Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to Brown and Brown, Inc., as per bid submitted in the amount of $106,705.00 and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders. Commissioner Exline moved that Contract Ordinance be introduced for first reading. Ordinance passed: `TJt- f Number Mayor appointed J. Earl Wyatt, Wm. F. Grosser, Jr., and Robert Frederick as appraisers for Job 374• Approved by Commissioner Wenger. City Manager reported on the following petitions: 2033 Curb, Gutter and Pave Fourth Street from Kirwin Avenue to • Minneapolis Avenue. 100% On motion of Commissioner McCune a resolution was introduced for first reading. Resolution passed: % Number 2030 Paving 200 Block on Des Moines Avenue. 50% On motion of Commissioner McCune resolution was introduced for first reading. Resolution passed:, '1 Number 2032 Paving Cloud from Highland to Fourth. Commissioner Wenger moved that resolution be introduced for first reading. Resolution passed: Number A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Fourth Street with concrete, thirt y -f our (34 ) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, f rom the south line of Center Street to the north line of Prescott Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: • Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nayst (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2015. • 1 • • 1 1 • An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendment of Zoning.Ordinanee_ Number 5549.and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was_called.and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi- nance and it is Numbered 6242. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for and creating the office of Assistant Clerk of the City Court of Salina, and fixing the salary for such office, and repealing. Ordinance Number 6031." On motion of Commissioner Ramsej the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger, Exline., McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5 ) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6243. Commissioner Wenger moved that the City Engineer prepare a feasibility report on the following improvements for permanent type paving of all streets in Sunset Manor Addition, except ,Edgemere Addition, except and Likinns Foster. Addition, except to assist the Board of Commissioners in determining the feasibility and desirability of such improvement, general nature of the proposed improvement, the estimated or probable cost, the boundaries of the improve- ment district, the method of assessment, the apportionment of cost, if any, between the district and the City at large, and whether such improvement should be made as proposed or otherwise, or in combination with other improvements authorized by Chapter 99, Sessiox Laws 1957, State of Kansas. Motion approved by the Board of Commissioners. Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed the following estimates: No. 8. Wilmoth Construction Company Inc. Approved by Commissioner McCune. No. 9. M. W. Watson Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Airport $37,191.00 Airport $ 11887.53 Gas Fitters Bond presented from Roscoe Swenson. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Petition presented for sanitary sewer to serve Upper Mill Heights Addition. On motion of Commissioner McCune petition referred to City Manager. On motion of Commissioner Wenger, City limit Ordinance introduced for first reading. Mayor appointee Dr. Frank A. Mitchell on Recreation Commission in place of Dr. John C. Mitchell. Appointment approved by Commissioner Exline. ,04 Commissioner McCune moved to approve additional lights for Kenwood Park and Broadway Boulevard. Carried. JUNE 10, 1958 Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, June 10th, 1958. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Jaeger, the roll was called and Commissioners Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Application for Building Permit was presented from Art Yeagley, to build an addition to building at 1117 North Eighth Street. Commissioner Exline moved that City Clerk advertise for Hearing to be held June 17th, 1958 at four o'clock P. M. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned. City Clerk
