MAY 27, 1958
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 27th, 1958. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Jaeger, the roll was called and Commissioners Jaeger, Ex -
line, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Ba rta responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 20th2 1958 were read and approved
as read.
Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for
Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 373; Main Sewer "AF01 and for Pumping Station, as
follows: (Job Number 373)
C. N. McCollum $27,1196.00
Brown and Brown, Inc., $352219.50
0. D. Wilmoth $31,307.10
Engineer's Estimate $28,950.00
Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to C. N. McCollum as per
bid submitted in the amount of $27,196.00 and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving and grading of Stack Avenue , twenty-eight (28) feet wide
from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with two 2 9nch hot asphalt mise over a six
(6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Delaware Avenue to the east line
of Missouri Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 2006..
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Osage Avenue ,thirty-
three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two 2 inch hot as-
phalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Cloud
Circle to the south line of Pawnee Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 2007.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Pacific Avenue with
concrete, thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to 7ck of curb, from the
west line of Eleventh Street to the west line of Twelfth Street."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and
on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jae
Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger McCune, Ramsey and Wenger ($) Nays: (0)
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2008.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving and grading of Vassar Drive twenty-eight (28) feet wide from
toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Republic Avenue to the north line of
Windsor Drive.";
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and
it is Numbered 2009.
A resolution -was -introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading.of_Beech Street thirty-
three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, twi h two 2 inch hot asphalt
mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Cloud Street to
the north line of Winona Street."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on
.its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 2010.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Pacific Avenue with
concrete, thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, from the
west line of Tenth Street to the east line of Eleventh Street."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and
on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 2011.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled : "An ordinance
providing for the resurfacing of College Avenue (37.5 feet wide from curb to curb)
with hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the south line of Park Street to the north lin e
Walnut Street; resurfacing of Mulberry Street (47.3 feet wide fromcxarb to curb) with
hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east line of
Ninth Street; resurfacing of Prescott Avenue (36 feet wide from curb to curb) with
hot mixed asphaltic concrete.from the west line of Fourth Street to the east line of
Santa Fe Avenue; resurfacing of Prescott Avenue (30.3 feet wide from curb to curb)

On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Jaeger, Exline,.McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6234.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance describ-
ing the place of installation of certain sidewalks in the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is Numbered 6235•
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing)
for the vacation of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas.

On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance.was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Jaeger, Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is Numbered 6236.
No persons appeared to protest the rezoning of Lot 6 , Lamer's First Sub -Division
from Zone "A" to Zone "D".
Commissioner Ramsey moved
that Zoning Ordinance be introduced for first reading.

No persons appeared to protest the rezoning of certain lots in Block 7 Holiday
Addition from Zone "A" to Zone "D" and certain lots in Block 3, Holiday Addition from
Zone "A" to Zone "Fn.
Commissioner Wenger moved that Zoning Ordinance be introduced for first reading.

A resolution was introduced and passed entitled : "A Resolution authorizing
and providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the
sum of $16,758.30 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the
• City of Salina to be designated as Series PT -27 pending the issuance of bonds to pay
the cost of said work."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Jaeger,
Exline, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Mays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 2012.
Application for Cereal Malt beverage License was presented f.romDale M. Larsen,
d/b/a "Town Tavern" 156 North Santa. Fe Avenue."
Approved by Commissioner McCune, subject to sanitation.
Letter presented from Secretary, Board of Directors Salina Public Library,
requesting that the City Commission make provision for an addition to the Smoky Hill
Historical Museum in Oakdale Park, in order to house the recently Brock Old Country
Store and Blacksmith Shop Collection. Also asking that Library Board be consulted
in the planning for the building.

Report from Wilson and Company, Engineers, on proposed water supply improve-
ments for Mt. Barbara, Country Club and Upper Mill Heights areas and vicinity.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger and set date on bids for June 10th, 1958.

North 60 feet of lot 45 and North 60 feet of the East 2/3 Lot 47,
