MARCH 11, 1958
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 11th, 1958. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger,
McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March lith, 1958 were read and approved
as read.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1968 Against paving of West Prescott from Twelfth to Montrose. 15% against.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to hold and refer to City Manager to notify above
owners to get petition for other part of this block before publication time up on
resolution. •
1966 Paving Merrill Street from Wilson to Venango. 59.5% for.
Commissioner McCune moved that resolution be introduced for first reading

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levy-
ing special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of the construction
of certain sidewalks in the parking abutting the following property to-wit:West parking
of Second Street in said city and abutting Lot 14, Block 2, Van Trines Addition; South
parking of Prescott Avenue in said City and abutting Lots 1, 21 3 and 14. Block 2,
Van Trines Addition, East Parking of Third Street in said City and abutting Lot 1, Block
2, Van Trines Addition; East parking of Quincy Street in said city and abutting Lots
11 2, 3, 14, 5 and 61 Block 1, and Lots 1 and 18 in Block 3, and Lots 1 and 18 in Block
5, and Lots 1 and 18 in Block 7, and Lots 1 and 18 in Block 9, all in Southern View

On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 62114.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying
special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing certain
sidewalks in the parking abutting the following property to -wit: North parking of
Republic Avenue in said City and abutting Lots 9, 10, 19 and 20 in Block 1, in Replat

On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6215.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled : "An ordinance
providing for the inclusion of certain land within the corporate limits of the City of
Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays:. (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nande and it is Numbered 6216.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled : "An ordinance cre-
ating and defining certain main and lateral sanitary sewer districts in the City of
Salina, Kansas, designated as Main Sewer District "AF" and Lateral Sanitary Sewer Dis-
trict 373, and providing for the construction of a Main Sanitary Sewer "AF" and Lateral
Sanitary Sewer District Number 373, so created, and providing for the payment of the
cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said
districts for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds
to pay the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6217.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro-
viding for the construction of a pumping station for the purpose of pumping and divert-
ing the sewage of Main Sewer "AF" and extensions thereof into a Sanitary Sewer Force
Main the existing sewer location at the intersection of Iron Avenue and Marymount Road
in order to conduct the sewage of Main Sewer ""AF" to a point of outlet at the Sewage
Treatment Plant and providing for the payment of the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
• Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6218.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading describing the place and installa-
tion of certain sidewalks in Ingermanson Addition and Talley Addition.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Claremont Drive, thirty-one (31)
feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a
six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Greeley Avenue to the south line
of Ruskin Road."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline,
Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and
it is Numbered 191;3 •
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Ruskin Road thirty-one (31) feet
wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six
(6) inch crushed rock bane, from the east line of Claremont Drive to the west line of
Marymount Road."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its
. final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline ,
Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approve the resolution and
it is Numbered 1944.
The following petitions were presented and on motion of Commissioner Wenger
referred to the City Manager:

Concrete paving on Venango from Hancock
Concrete paving of. alley from Mulberry to South, between Seventh and Eighth.

The following petitions were presented and on motion of Commissioner Wenger

Approved by Commissioner Wenger.
Appraisers Reports presented for curbing, guttering and/or paving certain streets
provided for in Engineer Job Number 366.
Commissioner Wenger moved to advertise for Hearing for March 25th,
four o'clock P. M.
Airport Agreement received from Continental Air
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an ap-
priation for the payment of aertain claims."

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, March 11th, 1958. Meeting was called
to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger, McCune,
Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded.
Letter received from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition
filed by Patricia Crawford for permission to use Lot 50 on Front Street, in the
Original Townsite of oalina, Kansas, for off-street parking purposes be approved.
Uommissioner McCune moved to approve and City Clerk advertising for Hearing
for March 18th2 1958 at four o'cloc2saP. M.
