FEBRUARY 11th, 1958
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners February 11th, 1958. Meeting
was called to order by Acting Mayor Ramsey, the roll was called and Commissioners
Ramsey, Jaeger and McCune and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners Exline
and Wenger absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February lith, 1958 and Meeting of Zoning
Board of Appeals of February lith, 1958 were read and approved as read.
The following resolutions were introduced for second reading:
"A resolution relating to the resurfacing of Ninth Street with two (2) inch
hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the south line of North btreet to the south line
of Pacific Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1916.
"A resolution relatint to the resurfacing of Santa Fe Avenue_ with two (2)
inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the north right-of-way line of the Union
Pacific Railroad to the north line of Pacific Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1917.
"A Resolution relating to the resurfacing of Ash Street with two (2) inch
hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the east line of Seventh Street to the east line of
Ninth Street . "
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it Numbered 1918.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Prescott Avenue with
concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from
the east line of Twelfth Street to the east line of Montrose Street."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1919.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Charles Street with
concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the
east line of Montrose Street to the east line of Phillips Street."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1920.
"A Resolution relating to the paving ai,4 grading of Morningside Drive with
concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter from the
east line of Front Otreet to the west line of Sunrise Drive."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners J,xline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1921.
"A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of
Roach Street with concrete twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, from the north line of Manor Street to the south line of Crawford Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1922.

eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of.gutter, from the west line of Roach
Street to the east line of Sunrise Dkive."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: namsey, Jaeger
and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting Mayor ap-
proved the resolution and it is Numbered 1923•
IIA Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Franklin Avenue with
concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the
west line of Eleventh Street to the east line of Sherman Street."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Jaeger
and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1924.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Franklin Avenue with
concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the
west line of Ninth Street to the east line of Tenth Street."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Jaeger
and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting Mayor ap-
proved the resolution and it is Numbered 1925-
"A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Lincoln
Avenue with concrete, twent -eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gut-
ter from the west line of Thirteenth Street to the east line of Reynolds Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Jaeger
and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting Mayor ap-
proved the resolution and it is Numbered 1926.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Stapler Street with concrete
twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the east line of
Ohio Street to the west line of Connecticut Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Jaege
and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1927.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Leslie Avenue with con-
crete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the west
line of Simmons Street to the east line of Fourth Street."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
• final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1928.
"A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Leslie Avenue
from the center line of Simmons Street to the center line of Fourth Street."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Jaeger
and McCune. (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1929.
"A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Jewell Avenue with con-
cretes twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, rom the east
line of Roach Street to the west line of Ohio Street."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Acting
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1930.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1957 Curbing and guttering west side of Quincy from Leslie to Albert; and
asphalt paving on same block. 50%

Commissioner McCune moved that resolution be introduced for first reading.

Avenue; and the curb and gutter of the west side of Rush street. 57.1% for.
Commissioner Jaeger moved that resolution be introduced for first reading for
curbing and guttering on the east side of Rush Street from center line of Claflin Avenue
to a point 149 feet south of the south line of Claflin Avenue.

Commissioner Jaeger moved to hold over for Meeting of February 18th, 1958.
Application for Cereal Malt beverage License presented from Retha Wise, d/b/a
"Don's Tavern " , 201 South Santa Fe Avenue.
Commissioner Jaeger moved that application be approved and license granted.
Final Estimate Number 6, for Airport. Johnson Brothers $10,882.31
Approved by Commissioner McCune.
Letter presented from Mid -States Advertising Agency regarding benches for
bus stops.
Commissioner McCune moved, not be granted at this time. Carried.
Petition presented from Dr. Donald B. Amend for the rezoning of Lots 20, 22 and
24, Block 3, VanTrine's Addition from Zone "B" to Zone "C" for Dental Clinic.
Referred to City Planning Commission by Commissioner McCune.

Approved by Commissioner Jaeger.
Application for driveways at 111 and 113 West Iron Avenue, presented from
National Bank of America.
Approved by Commissioner McCune.
Petition presented from C. N. Hoffman, et al, for the rezoning from "A" to "D",
beginning East right-of-way U. S. 81, 500 feet, southeast, center line of Hageman and
81; thence -6ast 990 feet; thence South along West right-of-way 81, 1020 feetl thence
West 50 feet to East right-cf-way 81; thence northwest to point of beginning.
Commissioner McCune moved to refer to City Planning Commission.
Commissioner Jaeger moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading author-
izing and providing for revision and codification of ordinances of the City of Salina,
Kansas. -

An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appro-
priation for the payment of ce tain claims."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Ramsey, Jaeger and McCune (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent.
Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-891.
Commissioner Jaeger moved that City Attorney be auV orized to file with Civil
Aeronautics Board for Airport Hearing, Washington, D. C.
On motion of Commissioner McCune the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, February 11th, 1958. Meeting was called
to order by Acting Mayor Ramsey, the roll was called and Commissioners Ramsey, Jaeger
and McCune and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent.
Hearing was held on Notice of Appeal from Orville W.Boyle for non-compliance
with Rear Yard Requirements of Ordinance Number 5549,Sections 11 and 17,Paragraph 16,
Zone "F" for Lot 125 on Fifth street, Original Town of Salina, Kansas.
No protests.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to
the authorization of non-compliance with the Rear Yard Requirements of Ordinance Number
5549, Section 11 and 17, in Par. 16 Zone "F" for Lot 125 on Fifth Street, Original Town-
sitein the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Jaeger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,
