OCTOBER 29, 1957 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 29, 1957• Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of Octobe 22, 1957, were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in The Salina Journal bids were received for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 366 as follows: C? N. McCollum Construction Company, Salina,fansas $33,787.00 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $36,245.00 City Engineer 's Estimate; $36,289.50 Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract be awarded to C. N. McCollum Constructio • Company and check returned to unsuccessful bidder. Carried. Contract Ordinance introduced for first reading. Ordinance passed: G, 1 ( L r� L Number: (c Mayor appointed J. Earl Wyatt, C. B. Dodge, Jr., and Harley Rose as appraisers for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 366. Approved by Commissioner Jaeger. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with O.D.Wilmoth, doing business as Wilmoth Con- struction Company for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas:, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 363, 364 and 367 and providing for the issuance of Temporary Notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by section and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi- nance and it is Numbered 6193• A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing., guttering, paving and grading of Fairdale Road , thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with six inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Edgehill Road to the south line of Melrose Lane." On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, • Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1899• A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A "esolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Fairdale Road with concrete, thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, from the south line of Melrose Lane to the south line of Overhill Road." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCuneq Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1900. City Manager reported on the following petitions: 1938 For sidewalks on West side of the 1500 Block o n Maple Street, de- fined as Block 2, Cloud Addition, to extend from the south curb of Bachtold Street to the south border of Lot 30 of said block. 66-2/3% Commissioner Ramsey moved to approve for resolution. Carried. 1937 Paving Roach 6treet from Claflin to Cloud, with hot mix. 75% Commissioner McCune moved to approve for resolution. Carried. Petition presented for concrete paving on Highland Avenue in Gebhart Manor Addition to the City of 5alina,K ansas, fronting upon Lots 2 to 10 inclusive in Block 1 of said Addition and Lots 1 to 7 inclusive in Block 2 of said Addition. • Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Manager. • 1 1 • • C7 1 • Change Order No. 1 on Airport Building. (Johnson Bros. Construction Company, Contractor) Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Change Order No. 1 on Iron Avenue Bridge. (Jarvis Construction Company, Contractor) Approved by Commissioner Jaeger. Carried. Building Application from Planters State: Bank for entrance way under alley. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. On motion of Commissioner namsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk
