MEETING • COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS OCTOBER 22nd, 1957 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 22nd, 1957• Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Wenger absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 15th, 1957 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of October 15th, 1957 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 363, 364. and 367 (Job 367) as follows: 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $13,445.25 C. N. McCollum Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $16,024.65 City Engineer's Estimate $15,103.50 • Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract be awarded to O.D. Wilmoth Construction Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $13,445.25 and check returned to unsuc- cessful bidder. Carried. Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract ordinance for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 363, 364 and 367 (Job 367) be introduced for first reading. Dodge, Jr. and Harley Rose to act as appraisers for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 363, 364 and 367 (Job 367). Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance amending an ordinance creating and defining certain Intercepting Sew er District in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Intercepting Sewer Country Club District, providing for the construction and maintaining pumping stations and intercepting sewers to serve said district; and providing for the levying of special assessments against property in said district for the cost of construction and maintaining pumping stations and sewers, including the cost of acquiring, by condemnation or purchase, land or any easement or right therein, and for the issuing of Negotiable Bonds therefor." On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6192. • A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Franklin Street with concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the west line of Tenth Street to the east line of Eleventh Street." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1898. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Fairdale Road , thirty-three (33) feet wide, from back of curb to back of curb, with six inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Edgehill Road to the south line of Melrose Lane." Motion made by Commissioner Ramsey. Leckband for the rezoning of Lot 2, Block 8, in the Replat of Lots 1 to 15, Garden Homes Addition, City of Salina, Kansas., from Zone "A" to Zone "D" be approved. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey and City Clerk instructed to give thirty days Notice. Carried. Recommending that Petition Number 1935 filed by L.C. Helbert for the rezoning to "E" of Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 Block 10, Depot Addition, Salina, Kansas,b a approved. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey and City Clerk instructed to give thirty days notice. Carried. City Engineer filed Final Estimate in the amount of $14,151.39, to Brown and Brown, Inc., for jtreet Improvements provided for in Job 357• Approved by Commissioner McCune. Carried. The following petitions were presented: • Protesting the rezoning of Lots 1, 21 92 10, Plat 3, Lamer's 2nd Subdivision , Salina, Kansas , from "A" to "B". • 1 1 r � U On motion of Commissioner Ramsey referred to City Planning Commission. For paving Roach Street, from Claflin Avenue to Cloud Street, with hot mix. On motion of Commissioner McCune referred to City Manager. For sidewalk on the West side of the 1500 Block of Maple Street, defined as B lock 2, Cloud Addition, from the South curb of nachtold Street to South border of Lot 30 of said block. On motion of Commissioner McCune referred to City Manager. On motion of Commissioner McCune the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for the sale of the following City of Salina, Kansas, bonds, to be received up to and including November 5th, 1957 at four o'clock P. M: Series P-176 in the amount of $466,407.30 for street improvements 10 years Series S-177 in the amount of $148,792.25 for sewer improvements 10 years. - An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims". On motion of Commissioner Jaeger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-873. Application to Water Resources Board. Commissioner Ramsey moved that Mayor be authorized to sign. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk
