SEPTEMBER 17, 1957
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners September 17, 1957. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline,
Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners McCune and Jaeger
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Yeeting of September 10, 1957 were read and approved
as read.
City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for the curbing, guttering and/or
paving certain streets, provided for in Engineer Job Numbers 36 0 and 366.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and that City Clerk be instructed to adver-
tise for bids to be received up to and including, Tuesday, September 24th, 1957 at four
o'clock P. M. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- •
viding for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 5549 and the Zoning District Map
therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within
the City and. prescribing the proper uses thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (3) Nays:. (0) Commissioners McCune and Jaeger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6183.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with Oscar M. Wilbur Construction Company for the
construction of certain sidewalks in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated
as Engineering Job Number 364 and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay
the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of Bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners McCune and Jaeger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6184.
Commissioner Ramsey moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading for
the vacation of East and west alley abutting Lots 23, 25, 27, 29 on Claflin Avenue
and Lots 24, 26, 28, 30 on Russell Avenue, in the Addition to the Grounds of Kansas
Wesleyan University, Salina, Kansas.

City Manager reported on Petition Number 1926 for the vacation of North ten
feet of the utility easement, which is upon and across the South 20 feet of Lots 1
through 18, inclusive, in Block 7, Likins-Foster Addition to the City of °alina, Kansas •
as follows:
Since sanitary sewer is two (2) feet south of North ten feet of easement, do
not recommend being vacated.
Commissioner Tenger moved that petition be denied. Carried.
A petition was presented for the concrete paving of Leslie, and the curbing and
gutteringof South side of Leslie from East line of Ninth 6treet Place to east line of
Simmons Otreet.
Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Manager.
A petition was presented for sidewalk on South side of Aussell from Norton to
Roach; East side of Norton from Russell to Cloud; North side of Cloud from Norton to
Roach; and West side of Roach from Cloud to Russell.
Commissioner Aamsey moved to refer to City Manager. Carried.
A petition was presented for sidewalk on South side of Ralph Avenue between
Quincy Street and Norton Avenue.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer to City Manager.
Concrete Construction Bond presented from ABR Contractors, Inc.,
Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Petition presented from Salina Board of I,rade for the rezoning of the follow-
ing described property to Class "D" Local Business, for the purpose of erecting an •
office building to be used by '-_'alina Board of Trade:
Five and eighteen hundredths (5.18) acres in the Northwest corner of Lot 2,
Surveyor's Plat 34, an Addition to the City of 'alina, Kansas.
Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Planning Commission.
Commissioner Wenc,er moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading pro-
viding for the condemnation of certain property for Flood Control System in the City
of balina, Kansas. j v

West 120 feet of Lot 2, Block 3, heplat of Beebe's Second Addition to the City of
Salina, Kansas (property known as 451 South Fifth Street, Jalina, Kansas.)

notice. Carried.
