COMMISSION -ERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS
JULY 16, 1957
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 16th, 1957• Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger,
McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 9th, 1957 and Meeting of Board of
Zoning Appeals were read and approved as read.
Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper bids were received
for curbing, guttering and concrete paving certain streets provided for in Engineer
Job Number 355, as follows:
Brown and Brown, Inc., Salina, Kansas; $150,257.00
O.D.Wilmoth Construction Company, Salina, Kansan $151,692.00
Engineer 's Estimate $169,790.00

Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to Brown and Brown, Inc., as
per bid submitted in the sum of $150,257.00, and check returned to unsuccessful bidder.
Carried.
Contract Ordinance fo Engineer Job 355 introduced for first reading.
Ordinance Passed: Number
Mayor appointed J. Earl Wyatt, C. B. Dodge, Jr., and Harley Rose, to act as
appraisers for Engineer Job 355•
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.
Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the
curbing, guttering and hot mix paving certain streets provided for in Engineer Job Num-
ber 361, as follows:
Brown and Brown, Inc., Salina, Kansas $ 962637.50
Texas Paving Corporation, Box 179, Salina, Kansas $128,331.50
Rhoades Construction Company, Box 337, Newton, Kansas $11.1,078.00
Hall Bros. Construction Company, Marysville, Kansas $1122476.50
Engineer's Estimate $117,980.00
Commissioner Wenner moved to refer bids to City Engineer for checking and report
at next meeting. Carried.
No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of the following described
property:
Lot 10 on North Eighth Street in the Original Town of Salina.. Kansas, from
.
Zone "C" to Zone "F".
All of that part of Tract 1 in Surveyor's Plat 51, East of the center line of
Dry Greek, except the East 165 feet thereof, City of Salina, Kansas;, from Zone "D" to
Zone "F".
Commissioner Wenger moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading.

A resolution was introduced for First reading providing for the construction of
a sidewalk on Gebhart Street between Charlotte and Leslie.

A resolution was introduced for first reading relating to the paving of Windsor
Drive from Republic Avenue to Dover Drive.

A resolution was introduced for first reading relating to the curbing and gutte
ing the East side of Lewis Avenue from Beloit to Minneapolis.

regarding boats on Smoky Hill River, in the City of Salina, Kansas.

d/b/a Lilli's Tic-Toc Lounge, 136 North Santa Fe Avenue.
Commissioner Wenger moved that application be approved and license granted.
Carried.
Concrete Construction Bond presented from J. L. Willis.
Approved by Co mmissioner Ramsey. Carried.
Petition presented protesting the construction of sidewalks on North side
of Kirwin Avenue between Roach and Lewis.
Commissioner Ramsey moved that petition be filed. Carried..
Petition presented for the vacation of alley between Lots 66 and 68 on Santa
Fe Avenue, Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University.
Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Planning Commission. Carried.
Petition presented from M. L. Michaelsen for the rezoning of certain property
in south-west Salina to Zone "G".
Commissioner McCune moved to refer to City Planning Commission. Carried.
Petition presneted forhe platting of the sub -division of Country Club Heights
Number 3.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer to City Planning Commission. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an.
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and ad opted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered A-860.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an

On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinanc
and it is Numbered A-861.
Budget for 1958 presented by City Manager.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger, McCune,
Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded.
Building Application presented from Dr. R. J. Falta.
Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Attornei,.
Hearing was held on Appeal Notice filed by J. Larl Wyatt, for non-compliance
with the insufficient Square Foot Lot Area Requirement for Lot 2 on West Place, Replat
of Part of Univer sity Addition, City of Salina, Kansas.
No protests.
A resolution was introduced and passed relating to insufficient Square Foot Lot
Area Requirement for Lot 2 on West Place, Replat of part of University Addition, City
oI Salina, K ansas.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger
McCure, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is
Numbered 1861.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 297 Resolution Book 6.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey, Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned.
