07-09-1957 Minutesj! a' • COMMISSION MS PROCEEDINGS REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JULY 9th, 1957 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 9th, 1957. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 2nd, 195 7 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper bids were received for paving Recreation Area in Oakdale Park (Job 363) as follows: Wilmoth Construction Company $11,962.00 Saum Brothers $12,232.50 City Engineer's Estimate $12,000.00 • Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract be awarded to Wilmoth Construction Com- pany as per bid submitted in the sum of $11,962.00,�nd check returned to unsuccessful bidder. Carried. City Manager reported on the following petitions: 1903 Fir sidewalk on East and west side of Gebhart between Charlotte and Leslie. 55% Commissioner Ramsey moved to approve for resolution. Carried. 1902 For paving with Hot Mix Asphalt, Windsor Drive in Sunset Village Addi- tion, to Salina, Kansas 100% Commissioner McCune moved to approve for resolution. Carried. 1901 For sewer to serve Blocks 3 and 4, Riker Addition to Salina, Kansas. 100% Commissioner Ramsey moved to approve for ordinance. Carried. 1900 Curb and gutter East side of Lewis from Beloit to Minneapolis. 100% Commissioner Wenger moved to approve for Resolution. Carried. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for curbing, guttering and paving with Hot Mix Asphalt, certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas;. (Job 361). Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and City Clerk instructed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including, Tuesday, July 16th, 1957 at four o'clock P.M. Carried: Letter was presented from Kansas Wesleyan University, asking the Board of Commis- sioners to consider favorably a resolution which would allow them to continue to operate • for another two-year period a portion of the Veterans Housing Units on the Kansas Wes- leyan Univer sity Campus. Commissioner Ramsey moved to allow for two more years on same basis as before. Carried. Application presented from Safeway Stores, Inc., asking for the transfer of Cereal Malt -Oeverage License Number 2977 from 3014 South Santa Fe Avenue to 4148 South Santa Fe Avenue. Approved by Commissioner McCune. Carried. Applications for Cereal Malt Beverage License presented as follows: Mamrriel's Inc., #14 700 South Ninth Street. Mammel's Inc., ##15 100 North Fifth Street. Commissioner Wenger moved that applications be approved and license granted. Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A hesolution authorizing the acceptance of first amendment to Grant Agreement, Contract No. C3ca-882A, relating to the development of the Salina Municipal Airport, Salina, Kansas." Commissioner Ramsey moved that Resolution be approved as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Payor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1860. . The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 295 and 296, Resolution Book Number 6. The following Engineering Estimates were filed: Partial Estimate Number 1 in the amount of $5286.18 to Wilmoth Construction Company for Intercepting Sewer (Job 359). Approved by Commissioner McCune. Carried. Final Estimate in the amount of $514.93 to Anderson, Srack and Johnson, Architects, for professional services in the construction of Fire Station Number 2. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Final Estimate in the amount of .w1520.30 to Gage Plumbing and Heating Company for Fire Station Number 2. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. Final estimate in the amount of $1832.91 to Engberg Electric Company for Fire Station Number 2. Approved by Commissioner Jaeger. Carried. The following petitions were presented and on motion of Commissioner Ramsey referred to the City Manager: Curb, Gutter and pave Second Street from Crawford Avenue to Bond Street. Paving North Second Street with six-inch rock base and two-inch Hot Mix Asphalt from Iron Avenue, north to the river. Concrete: Construction Bond presented from J. J. Willingham. Approved by Commissioner McCune. Carried. Audit Contract for cash audit of 1957 records presented from D. N. Turner. Commissioner Jaeger moved to award contract to D. N. Turner. Carried. Petition presented for the rezoning of Lots 1.15, 147, 1.49 and 151, Fourth Street, Original Town of Salina, Kansas, from Zone "C" to Zone "F", for lumber and building material storage. Commissioner Wenger moved to refer to City Planning Commission. Carried. Commissioner McCune moved to amend ordinance for Angle Parking on West Ells- worth Avenue, at the University Market, 1300 South Santa Fe Avenue. (Thomas Neff). Carried. JULY 9th, 1957 Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, July 9th, 1957. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exlire , Jaeger, McCune, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Application presented from J. Earl Wyatt for permission to move in and remodel a dwelling to be located at 108 North West Place. Commissioner Ramsey moved to approve and City Clerk publish Notice for Hearing to be held, July 16th, 1957 at four o'clock P. M. Carried.
