Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Wenger absent. The minutes of the Regular Meetirg of May 7th, 1957 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the inclusion of certain land within the corporate limits of the City of Salina,Kansas, prescribing t e corporate limits of said City, and repealing Section 2 of Ordinance Number 6130. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey. (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor • approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6142. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the construction of certain sidewalks, for the payment of the cost thereof and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6143. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relat- ing to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of construction of Main Sanitary Sewer District "D" and Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 354, 355 and 356, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6145• A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution determin- ing necessity of and directing that the owner of owners of certain lots construct in compliance with plans and specifications of the City Engineer, a sidewalk, abutting said lots within 30 days of the adoption and publication hereof and providing that in the event the owner or owners fail to do so, that the City of Salina shall proceed to con- struct or cause to be constructed said sidewalk and that the total cost thereof shall be • assessed against such lot or lots on which such sidewalk shall abut as other special assessments." On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, -- Jaeger, McCune.and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. M. Carried. Commissioner Ramsey moved that Sidewalk Resolution be introduced for first reading. Petition received from The Salina Supply Company, for the vacation of that part of the alley between Santa Fe and Fifth 6treet,from Elm Street, north for the distance between Lots 41, 43, 45, 47 on Santa Fe Avenue and Lots 42,44,46,48 on Fifth Street. Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer to City Planning Commission. Carried. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate in the amount of $¢21,942.21 to 0. D. Commissioner Ramsey moved to advertise for bids to be received up to and including Tuesday, May 28th, 1957, for improvements at Salina Municipal Airport. Carried.
