04-30-1957 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALIN A, KANSAS;. APRIL 30, 1957 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 30, 1957. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Jaeger, McCune , Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Wenger absent. The minutes of t he Regular Meeting of April 23, 1957; Special Meeting of April 23, 1957 and Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting of April 23, 1957 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creat- ing and defining certain Intercepting Sewer District in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Intercepting Sewer Country Club District, providing for the construction and maintaining pumping stations and intercepting sewers to serve said district; and providing for the levying of special assessments against property in said district for the cost of constructing and maintaining pumping stations and sewers, including the cost of acquiring by condemnation or purchase.. land or any easement or right therein, and for the issuing of negotiable bonds therefor." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Co mmissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6138. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratify- ing and constructing a contract with C. N. McCollum, doing business as McCollum Construct Company for the construction of a certain main sanitary sewer and lateral sanitary sewers and pumping station in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Main Sanitary Sewer District "AE" and Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 357, 358, 359 and 360 and Pumping Station, and providing for the issuance of Temporary Notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exl.ine, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Carried. 1873 Curb, gutter and paving with 2 -inch hot mix, Winona from Dover to West- wood Road; Dover from Cloud to Winona and Westwood Road from Cloud to Winona. Approved by Commissioner McCune and referred to City Engineer for description for resolution. Petition presented for curbing and guttering Coronado Street from Jewell Avenue, 435 feet south; Rush Street from Jewell Avenue to Claflin Avenue; and the south side of Jewell Avenue from Rush to Coronado. Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer to City Manager. Carried. Petition presented for paving with 2 -inch hot mix Pearl Street from Republic 0 Avenue to Martin. Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer to City Manager. Carried. Petition presented for the rezoning of Lots 2 and 11, Block 8, in Replat of Lots 1 through 15, Garden Home Addition from Zone "C" to Zone "D". Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer to City Planning Commission. Carried. Electrician's Bond received from W. W. Smith and Sons. Approved by Commissioner McCune. Carried. Application presented for driveway construction at 605 East Iron Avenue. Commissioner McCune moved to approve two 30 -foot driveways on Iron Avenue and one 40 -foot driveway on Front Street. Carried. Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed the following estimates: Estimate No. 5, in the amount of $1997.93 to Hydraulic Drilling Company for Water Supply Explorations. • Approved by Commissioner McCune. Carried. Estimate No. 2 in the amount of $9651.09 to Wilson Constructors, for Water Supply Wells 15 and 16. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. City Engineer filed Partial Estimate Number 2 in the amount of $17,675.07 to L. W. Rexroad and Son, for Street Improvements (Job 350). Approved by Commissioner McCune. Carried. Appraisers Reports filed for Job 350, Curbing, Guttering and/or Paving Improve- ments. Commissioner McCune moved to set hearing date for May 14, 1957 at four o'clock P. M. Carried.
