04-02-1957 Minutes• 1 1 COMAISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. APRIL 2, 1957 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 2, 1957. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Wenger absent. The minutes of the Regular JIeeting of March 26, 1957 and Special Meeting of March 26, 1957 were read and approved as read. The matter of rezoning Lots 8 and 9, Block 5, Oakdale Addition , was Tain taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Ramsey moved that Joint Meeting with City Planning Commission be held, Friday, April 5th, 1957, at four o'clock P. M. Carried. Decision, next meeting. • An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with Brown &.Brown, Inc., for the construction of certain paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issu- ance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6129. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for the inclusion of certain land within the corporate limits of the City of Salina, Kansas, prescribing the corporate limits of said City and repealing Section 2 of Ordi- nance Number 6080." On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6130. City Manager reported on the following petition: 1866 Curb, Gutter, Paving Cloud Street from Fourth to Quincy. 57% Commissioner Ramsey moved to refer to City Engineer for description for Reso- lution. Carried. The following letters were presented from the City Planning Commission: • Recommending that Petition Number 1858 for the vacation of alley bordering Lots 12, 13, 14 and 15, Block 8, Stack Addition, Salina, Kansas, be approved. Commissioner Exline moved to accept, and that ordinance be introduced for first reading. Carried. Ordinance Passed: Number:��_ Recommending that petition filed for extension of Traco Trailer Coir t b e denied. Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and petition denied. Carried. Recommending that petition filed by Carroll J. Morgenson and Al Turner for rezoning proper ty on the corner of Cloud and Roach , be denied. Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and petition denied. Carried. Water conservation recommendations. Commissioner Ramsey moved othat ordinance be introduced for first reading. Ordinance Passed: j-6Number Agreement ►� Agreement presented for Plutual Aid in Fire Protection with Air Force Base. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. A petition was presented for construction of sidewalk on south side of Crawford • Avenue from Second Street, to first alley east of Second Str eet. Referred to City Manager by Commissioner Ramsey. A petition was presented for the paving of the 600 Block on Steahlin Avenue. Referred to City Manager by Commissioner Lake. Concrete Construction Bond presented from Charles W. Bishop and John A. Winters. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. Mausoleum Deed for the sale of Crypts 476 and 477 to W. M. Garrison, was pre- sented. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. Commissioner Ramsey moved that resolution be introduced for first reading for the paving of Stapler Avenue from East line of Connecticut Avenue to the West line of Delaware Avenue, with concrete.
