MARCH 5, 1957 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 5th, 1957• Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 26th, 1957 w ere read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper bids were received for addition to Water Department Office, City Hall, Salina, Kansas,as follows: Busboom and Rauh, Salina, Kansas $6344.00 ing for the curbing, guttering and grading of the North side of Beloit Avenue from the Richard Nethaway, Salina, Kansas $9581.00 Mullen Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $7312.00 with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6). inch crushed rock base, from the east M.W. On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance . and it is Numbered 6121. • An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $375,000.00 to pay the City's share of the actual cost of acquiring additional land to enlarge the present municipal airport, and to pay the City's share of developing, equipping and improving said lands so acquired and now constituting said municipal airport for aviation purposes, and all things incidental thereto, to be designated as Series A-171." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections Commissioner Exline moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading re- latinf to levying special assessments to pay the cost of constructing certain sewer and water service pipes and connections incertain streets in the City of Salina, Kan- sas. / Ordinance passed: ( z 7J �% Number Commissioner Exline moved that resolution be introduced for first reading relating to the curbing, guttering and paving Fourth Street from South line of South Street to North line of Center Street. Carried. • 1850 For curbing, guttering and paving Kansas Avenue from Ash to Johnstown Avenue. 65% On motion of Commissioner Wenger referred to City Engineer for description for resolution. Carried. Also a resolution for Kansas Avenue from Johnstown to Iron Avenue. 1847 For curbing and guttering East Prescott Road from Guernsey Drive to Roach; and Roach Street from East Prescott Road to Crawford Avenue. 100% On motion of Commissioner Wenger referred to City Engineer for description for resolution. Carried. Agreement entered into between the City of Salina and Union Pacific Railroad Company, relating to construction of a 30 -inch storm sewer and 10 -inch sanitary sew- er extending across the right-of-way and underneath the main track of the Railroad Company's McPherson Branch tracks, in Southeast Salina. Approved by Commissioner Lake and Mayor authorized to sign. Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed relating to agreement entered into between the City of Salina and Union Pacific Kailroad Company for the construction of a 30 -inch storm sewer and a 10 -inch sanitary sewer across the right-of-way and underneath the main track of the Railroad Company's McPherson Branch tracks in south- east Salina." On motion of Co mmissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on • its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1801. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for and authorizing the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $213,537.45, to pay the cost of constructing main sanitary sew- ers and certain lateral sanitary sewers and storm sewers, in the City of Salina, Knsaf, which bonds shall be designated as Series S-173." A "Allen Steak House" 326 South Broadway, Salina, Kansas, February 19th, again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Referred to City Attorney for one week. Petition presented protesting the application for special permission to con- struct and locate an addition to the Traco Trailer Park. Referred to City Planning Commission. Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted Estimate Number 1 in the amount of $9640.66 to Jarvis Construction Company, for construction of Iron Avenue Bridge, (Flood Control Project). Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried. The following estimates were submitted by Architects for Fire Station Number 2: Estimate No. 4 A. E. Engberg $447.9C Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Estimate No. 5 Gage Plumbing & Heating Co., $ 2056.5C Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. Estimate No. 6 Jarvis Construction Company $ 8226.00 Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Petition presented protesting the rezoning of Lots 8 a 5, Oakdale Addition, from Zone "C" to Zone "D". Commissioner Wenger moved to file with Notice of Hearing 1957. Carried. and McClung, A petition was presented for the rezoning of Lot 10, North Eighth Street, Original Townsite of Salina, Kansas, from Zone "C" to Zone "F!' Referred to City Planning Commission by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. For rezoning tract of land at the corner of Cloud and Roach Streets Super market. Referred to City Planning Commissioner by Commissioner Exline. Car Appraisers Reports filed for Job Number 317. Commissioner Wenger moved that Hearing be held March 26th, An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-811. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
