Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners February 12, 1957. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes,
Exline, Lake and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Wenger
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 5, 1957 and Meeting of Board
of Zoning Appeals were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with Jarvis Construction Company for the construction
of a bridge in the City of Salina,Kansas, heretofore designated as The Iron Avenue
Bridge, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pend-
ing the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections •
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
_-% Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6120.
Commissioner Lake moved that resolution be introduced for first reading relat-
ing to the curbing and guttering of the East side of Quincy Street fromcenter line of
Albert Avenue to center line of Leslie Avenue.

Commissioner Lake mo�,ed that resolution be introduced for first reading relat-
ing to the curbing and guttering of Highland Avenue from the center line of Leslie
Avenue to south line of Lot 10, Block 1, Gebhart Mannoir Addition. f

Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition Num-
ber 1838 submitted by Frank L. Barbee for the rezoning of Lots 8 and 9, Replat of
Block 5 in Oakdale Addition, Salina, Kansas, from Zone "C" to Zone "D" be approved.
Commissioner Lake moved to accept and City Clerk advertise for Hearing.
Carried.
Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition
submitted by C. 0. Ingermanson for annexation of Talley Addition to the City of Salina
be approved.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and table. Carried.
Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for one
Garbage Truck and equipment as follows:
Long -McArthur, Inc. $5820.94
Sid Bacon Motor Company $5965.47
Jim Sullivan Chevrolet Company $5990.28
Bell Motor Company $5970.44
Harmon, Draper & Gregg, Im . $5934.50
Commissioner Lake moved to accept bid of Long -McArthur, Inc. for $5820.94.
Carried.
Contract presented from Missouri Pacific Railroad Company for license to
cross Right -of -Way with a 60" Storm Sewer line, in the N. W. 1/4, Section 26, Township
14, South, Range 3 West, Saline County, Kansas.
Commissioner Lake moved to approve and Mayor authorized to sign. Carried.
Commissioner Ramsy moved that City Clerk advertise for bids tobe received up
to and including, Tuesday, February 26th, 1957 at four o'clock P. M. for the sale
of $300,000.00 General Improvement Bonds, (Series S-175). Carried.
Petition presented for the curbing and guttering of Manor Road from Roach to
Ohio. Referred to City Manager.
Petition presented for permission to locate an extension of the Traco Trailer
Park upon a strip of land south of the existing trailer park.
Petition referred to City Planning Commission.
Commissioner Lake moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading provid-
ing for the condemnation of Airport property. •

An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an ap-
propriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-839.
On motion of Commissioner Exline the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, February 12, 1957. Meeting was held
for the purpose of acting on Hearing on Appeal Notice filed by David Bell for non-
compliance of Rear Yard Requirements for Lot 11, Block 9, Highland Court Addition to
the City of Salina, Kansas. mayor Hawkes presided and the roll was called and
Commissioners Hawkes, ixline, Lake and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Com-
missioner Wenger absent.
No protests.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to
the authorization of non-compliance with the Near Yard Requirements of Section 6, of
Ordinance Number 5549,for Lot 11, Block 9, Highland Court Addition of the City of
Salina, Saline County, Kansas.."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
• Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor ap-
proved the resolution and it is Numbered 1796.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 222 Resolution Book 6.
On motion of Commissioner Exline, Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned.
