COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS
JANUARY 22, 1957
Regular Meeting of the Board of. Commissioners January 22, 1957. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline,
Lake and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Wenger absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 15, 1957 and Meeting of Board of
Zoning Appeals of January 15, 1957 were read and approved as read.
Commissioner Lake moved that Bus Franchise Ordinance be introduced for
s econd reading.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with 0. D. Wilmoth doing business as Wilmoth Con-
struction Company for the construction of a storm sewer in the City of Salina, Kansas,
hereinafter designated as Ingermanson Storm.Sewer., and providing for the issuance of
temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
OnmDtion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays:. (0) Commissioner. Wenger absent. Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6116.
The following.]e tters.were presented from City Planning Commission:
Recommending that petition filed by. Missouri_Pacific Railroad. Company far
the rezoning from "A" to 'IF" the Northwest.corner of Republic Avenue and the Missouri
Pacific tracks be denied.
Commissioner Lake moved toireferto City Manager for report January 29, 1957.
Carried.
Recommending that proposed plat.of Talley Addition be approved.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept.and Mayor sign. Carried.
Recommending that petition of R. R. Lindsley for the rezoning of the East 45
feet of the North 90 feet of Lot 24, Plat "G" in the City of Salina from Zone "B" to
Zone "C" be denied.
Commissioner Lake moved to accept and.petition denied. Carried.
City Engineer filed Plans and.Specifications for the construction of Lateral
Sanitary Sewers Numbered 354, 355 and 356 and Main.Sanitary Sewer "AD".
Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and City Clerk advertise for bids to be
received up to and including, Tuesday, January 29th, 1957 at four o'clock P. M. Carried.

City Attorney reported on Ashton Grocery parking.
Commissioner Lake moved that one parallel unloading zone be allowed on the
South side of Crawford Avenue, in front of Ashton Grocery. Carried.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager:
Sidewalk on both sides of Albert from Roach to Quincy; and east side of Quincy
from Albert to Leslie.
Curb and gutter on east side of Quincy from Albert to Leslie.
Nine Pool Hall Applications received.
Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Fa line the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-836.
A petition was presented for the rezoning of Lots 8 and 91 Replat of Block 5,
Oakdale Addition from Zone "C" to Zone "D".
Petition referred to City Planning Commission.

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, January 22, 1957. Meeting was called
to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll -was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline,
Lake and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Wenger absent.
Hearing was held on Appeal Notice filed by Kansas Wesleyan University for
non-compliance with -the Insufficierk Side and Front Yard Requirements of Zoning
Ordinance Number 5519 for Lots 17, 19, 61, 63, 65 on Santa Fe Avenue and Kirwin
Avenue. Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, Kansas.
No protests.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled : "A Resolution relating to
the authorization of non-compliance with the Side and Front Yard Requirements of
Ordinance Number 5549 for Lots 17, 19, 61, 63, 65, on Santa Fe Avenue and Kirwin
Avenue, Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University, City of Salina, Saline County, Kansass".
On motion of Commissioner Fxline the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll, was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Ramsey (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1794.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 221 Resolution Book 6.
On motion of Commissioner Exline, Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned.
