Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 8, 1957 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of January, 8, 1957 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper bids were received for the construction of Ingermanson Heights Storm Sever as follows: 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Co., Salina, Kansas $552550.00 John Busboom, Salina, Kansas $782601.00 L. W. Rexroad & Son, Salina, Kansas $66,0911.50 C. N. McCollum Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $57,377.50 Development Inc., Wichita, Kansas $83,010.00 Thorla Construction Company, Kansas City, Missouri $72,9115.00 City Engineers Estimate $67,830.00 Commissioner Lake moved that contract be awarded to 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Company as per bid submitted in the sum of $55,550.00 and checks returned to unsuccess- ful bidders. Carried. Contract ordinance introduced for first reading. Ordinance passed Number City Attorney submitted report regarding parking at the Ashton Grocery on West Cranford Avenue. Held over to January 22, 1957. Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that the insufficient side and front yard requirements be waived, regarding construction application sub- mitted by Kansas Wesleyan University, on January 7, 1957, concerning the proposed con- struction by the university of a married student housing unit on the block of ground bounded by Claflin Avenue on the south Kiriwn Avenue pp the pori hlan d Avenue on the west and Santa Fe Avenue on the east. r to January 22, 1957. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for the vacation of all streets, alleys, easements and all other types of dedica- tions in the plat of Welling Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas." A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relat- ing to the curbing and guttering and grading of North side of Woodlawn Avenue from the west line of Eleventh Street to the west line of Lot 8,, Block 1, of West Evergreen Park Addition to the City of Salina, Kansan." On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creat- ing and defining certain main and lateral sanitary sewer districts in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Main Sanitary Sewer District "AD" and Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 3511, 355 and 356, and providing for the construction of a main sanitary sewer "AD" and Lateral sanitary sewers in each of said lateral sanitary sewer districts numbered 354, 355 and 356 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said districtsfor the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was: called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relat- ing to the curbing and guttering and grading of North side of Woodlawn Avenue from the west line of Eleventh Street to the west line of Lot 8,, Block 1, of West Evergreen Park Addition to the City of Salina, Kansan." On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. On motion of Commissioner Lake -the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Ex1ine and Wenger absent. Ordinance passed �J: Number Petition presented protesting the rezoning of the East 45 feet of the North 90 feet of Lot 244 Plat "G" (640 East Ash Street) from Zone "B" to Zone "C". On motion of Commissioner Lake petition referred to City Planning Commission. On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections • and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-835. On motion of Commissioner Lake the Board of Cossioners adjourned. City Clerk Trust Deed, with a deposit of $75.00 was presented from Mrs. John K. Harvey, for perpetual care of the North 1/2 of Lot 4, Block 3 (Carlberg Cemetery lot) in the • Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. Electrician's Bond received from Wayne L. Sharp d/b/a "Wayne's T. V. Service". Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried. Gas Fitters Bond received from W. W. Smith and Sons. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. Petition presented for the extension of Class "D" zone on South Santa Fe Avenue from its present terminus at approximately the south line of Lot 3, Surveyor's Plat "D" to the Boutline of Lot 1, in Berk's Addition (changing the zoning of portions of Lot 4 Surveyor's Plat "D" and Lot 1, Berks Addition from Class "C" to Class "D" zones. Referred to City Planning Commission. Plans and Specifications filed by Wilson and Company, Engineers, or Water Wells Numbered 15 and 16. Commissioner Lake moved to accept and let bids February 5, 1957• Carried. Resolution filed by Association of Water Conservation. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey filed for future reference. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an ap- propriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections • and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey responded. Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent. City Attorney Barta, also was present. Hearing was held on Appeal Notice filed by Verner C. Smith or non-compliance with Rear Yard requirements for Lots 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7, Block 3, VanTrine's Addition, in the City of Salina, ansas. No protests. A resolution was introduced ans passed entitled: "A resolution relating to the authorization of non-compliance with_the.Rear Yard Requirements of Section 6, of Ordinance Number 5549 for Lots 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7, Block 3, VanTrine's Addition to the City of Salina, : Kansas . " On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Lake and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Exline and Wenger absent.
