Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners December 4, 1956. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline
and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commission,rs Lake and Wenger absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 27, 1956 were read and approved
as read.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1830 Curbing, guttering and paving with hot mixed asphalt Norton Street
from Leslie to Wayne 66-2/3%
1832 Asphalting Mellinger Drive from Lewis to Ohio. 63%
1829 Sanitary Sewer in Blocks 2 and 3, South Field Addition 66-2/3%
1831 Four -inch concrete sidewalk on both sides of Norton Street from
Leslie to Wayne 66-2/3%
1833 Extension of Sewer Line between Claflin and Russell to a point
200 feet, east. 10071,
Commissioner Exline moved to approve and refer to City Engineer for legal
descriptions. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance author-
izing and providing for the periodic issuance of Temporary Notes of the City o Salina,
Kansas, not to exceed a Total amoun of $1,340,000.00, to pay the cost of acquiring by
purchase and condemnation lands and easements necessary for the Salina Flood Control
System and to pay for damages allowed and injury to property and to pay the other neces-
sary costs of material furnishedm services rendered and labor performed in connection
with said Flood Control System."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6109.
An ordinance was introduced Cor second reading entitled: "An ordinance provid-
ing for the condemnation of certain property for the purpose of providing necessary
Rights -of -Way for the use of the City of Salina, Kansas, in developing, constructing,
maintaining and operating of a flood control system for said City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the o dinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6110.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relat-
ing to and apportioning and levying special assessments on ce tain lots and pieces of
ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of construction of Main Sanitary
Sewer District "AC" and Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 329, 330, 331, 332,
333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 340, 341 and 342, and relating to and providing
for collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6111.
Ordinance introduced for first reading providing for the construction of a
Storm Sewer in Ingermanson Heights Addition.

City Engineer filed the following estimates:
Estimate Number 1 in the amount of $1,827.50, to 0. D. Wilmoth Construction
Company for Parkin Lot on Fifth Street.
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
Estimate Number 4 in the amount of $4760.92 to 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Con-
struction Company for Street Improvements (job 345).
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.

Estimate Number 3 in the amours of $47,639.78 to Brown and Brown, Inc., for
Street Improvements. (Job 347)
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and
providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina,.Kansas , in the sum
of $52,403.75 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of
Salina to be designated as Series PT -24 pending the issuance of bonds to pay tree cost
o said work."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Ex -
line and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent. Mayor ap-
proved the resolution and it is Numbered 1777.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 198, 199 and 200, Resolution
Book Number 6.
Anderson, Srack, Johnson and McClung, Architects, filed the following estimates
for Fire Station Number 2:

Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
Estimate No. 2 Gage Plumbing & Heating Company, Inc. $ 1.845.05
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.
Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed Estimate No. 1 to Hydraulic Drilling
Company, Salina, Kansas, in the amount of $2,242,96 for Water Supply Exploration.
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
Commissioner Exline Moved that Philip Frederick be given a vote of thanks for
his work as Civil Defense Director. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appro-
priation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the o dinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
Numbered A-829.
An ordinary a was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an ap-
propriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Num-
bered A-830.

to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline and
Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
Application for Building Permit presented from Oscar A. Wenthe, 6002 Gypsum
Avenue, for the erection of a one -family dwelling on South 46 feet of Lots 56-58, Elm
Street, Weaver's Addition. (240 West Place)
