Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners November 6, 1956. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline
and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 30, 1956 were read and approved as
read.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1822 Concrete paving of Eleventh Street from Broadway to Pacific. 50%
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey and referred to City Engineer for legal
description on resolution. Carried.
1828 Protesting paving on Franklin Avenue from Hancock to Shawnee 28.3%
• Petition insufficient. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.
1823 Hot mix paving on Lewis from Minneapolis to Ellsworth. 55%
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey and referred to City Engineer for legal
description on resolution. Carried.
1826 Curb and gutter a part of Highland Avenue in Gebhart Manor Addition
in front of Lots 2 to 10 inclusive, Steck 1, and Lots 1 to 7 inclusive in
Block 2. 100%
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey and referred to City Engineer for legal
description on resolution. Carried.
1827 For lateral sanitary sewers to serve a part of Blocks 1 and 2
Gebhart Manor Addition. 1000/0
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey and referred to City Engineer for legal
description on ordinance. Carried.
1825 Water line for 2038 South Ninth Street. No water main available.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to table indefinitely. Carried.
1824 Sanitary Sewer for 2088 South Ninth Street. No sanitary sewer available
Commissioner Ramsey moved to table indefinitely. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratify-
ing and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown, Inc., for the construction of cer-
tain paving and grading improvements in ce tain streets in the City of Salim , Kansas:,
and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost th.,reof pending the
issuance and sale of bonds."
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creat-
ing and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina,
Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 353 and providing for the
construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number
353 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying
of special assessments against the property insaid district for the payment for the cost
of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption f,e roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6102.
An o din ante was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance provid-
ing for the construction of a pumping station for the purpose of pumping the sewage
of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353.and extensions thereof into the existing sewer
located north of Oakdale Drive in the north and south alley in Block 15, Cunningham's
Replat in order to conduct the sewage of Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 353, to a point
of outlet and providing for the payment of the Cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6103.

for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements
on ce tain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas.., and providing for the issuance of
temporary notes to pay t'e cost thereof pendin the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6105.
Engineer to file estimate to Airport Resolution Number 1767.
A. G. Aldridge, Engineer, of Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed detailed
Estimate of Cost under Airport Resolution Number 1767.
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
City Engineer filed Estimate Number 3 to 0. D. Wilmoth ConstructionCompany,
in the amount of $58,763.73 , for curbing, guttering and paving certain streets pro-
vided for in Job 345.
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing
and providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas in
the sum of $64,640.10 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in
the City of Salina, to be designated as Series PT -23 pending the issuance of bonds to
pay the cost of said work."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1768.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 182, 183 and 184 Resolution
Book Number 6.
City Engineer filed Estimate Number 2 to Brown & Brown, Inc., in the amount
of $54,186.84, for curbing, guttering and paving certain streets provided for in
Job 347.
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing
and providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City o Salina, Kansas, in
the sum of $70,244.78 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in
the City of Salina, to be designated as Series PT -24, pending the issuance of bonds
to pay t e cost of said work."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption t',e roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
Exline and Ramsey (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Lake and Wenger absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1769.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 135, 186 and 187, Resolution
Book Number 6.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appro-
priation for the payment of certain claims."

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, November 6, 1956. lAeeting was called

Building Application presented from A. F. Mick to add to building at 214
North Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, Kansas.
Commissioner Exline moved that application be denied. Carried.
Building Application presented from John D. Smutz to add to dwelling at 1415
Sunrise Orive.
Commissioner Ramsey moved that City Clerk publish Notice for Hearing to be
held, November 13th, 1956. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Exline Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned.
