Regulax Meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 30th, 1956. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and CommissionersHawkes, Exline,
Lake and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Ramsey absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 23, 1956 and Meeting of Board of
Zoning Appeals were read and approved as read.
Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper bids were received for
the construction of curbing, guttering and/or paving certain streets provided for in
Engineer Job 350 as follows: (Concrete°paving).
L. W. Rexroad and Son , Salina, Kansas $54,830.00
Wilmoth Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $57,550.00
• Brown & Brown, Irc., Salina, Kansas $64,950.00
John G. Busboom, Salina, Kansas, $64,130.00
City Engineer's Estimate $64,625.00
Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to L. W. Rexroad and Son, as
per bid submitted in the amount of $54, 830.00, and checks returned to unsuccessful
bidders. Carried.
Contract ordinance introduced for first reading.

Mayor appointed J. Earl Wyatt, Wm. F. crosser, Jr., and Robert Frederick, to
act as appraisers for the curbing, guttering and /or paving certain streets provided
for in Engineer Job 350. Carried.
Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper bids were received for
the curbing, guttering and/or paving certain streets provided for in Engineer Job 351
as follows: (two-inch hot asphalt mix)

Rhoades Construction Company, Newton, Kansas $26,360.50

City Engineer's Estimate $26,955.00
Commissioner Exline moved that contract be awarded to Brown and Brown, Inc., as
per bid submitted in the sum of $24,585.00, and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders.

praisers for the curbing, guttering and/or paving certain streets provided for in
Job Number 351. Carried.
Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper bids were received for
Water Supply Explorations in the City of Salina, Kansas,, as follows:
Hydraulic Drilling Company, Salina, Kansas $14,295.00
Rosencrantz-Bemis Drilling Company, Great Bend, Kansas $15,321.00
Layne -Western Company, Wichita, Kansas $13,335.00
Engineer's Estimate $16,610.00
Commissioner Lake moved that contract be awarded to Hydraulic Drilling Company
as per bid submitted in the sum of $14,295.00, and checks returned to unsuccessful
bidders. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance regulat-
ing parking on a part of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, providing a
penalty for the violation thereof and amending Section 24-1412A, Revised Ordinances
of the City of Salina, Kansas., 1948, as amended and repealing the original and prior
• amendments of Section 24-1412A, of Ordinances Numbers, 5815, 5844 and 5943•, aforesaid."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline, Lake and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Ramsey absent. Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6101.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager:
Protesting the paving with concrete, Franklin Street from Hancock to Shawnee.
Sanitary sewers on a portion of Highland Avenue in Gebhart-Manor Addition
to Service Lots 1 to 10 inclusive, Block 1 and Lots 1 to 7 inclusive, Block 2.
Curb, Gutter and Storm Sewers on a portion of Highland Avenue in Gebhart-
Manor Addition, in front of Lots 2 to 10 inclusivem Block 1 and Lots 1 to 7 inclusive
in Block 2.
For Water Line to serve a tract 175 feet by 799.7i.n 26-14-3 Smoky Hill 383,
Address 2088 Sout Ninth Street, south of 81 and "Y".

Letter received from The Kansas Power and Light Company, regarding proposed
changes in City of Salina, Gas Ordinance.
Referred to City Attorney.
Commissioner Exline moved that City Clerk be instructed to advertise for,
the sale of the following curbing, guttering and/or paving bonds, to be received up
to and including, Tuesday, November 13th, 1956 at four o'clock P. M.:

A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution directing
that a detailed estimate of the cost of certain improvements and acquisition of land
and easements, being the actual cost of land and easements to be acquired outside
the limits of the City of Salina, Kansas, to extend the present Municipal Airport
of said City and actual cost of improving, equipping and developing said lands and
easements to be acquired, and the lands now constituting said municipal Airportfor
aviation purposes, shall be made under oath by A. G. Aldridge, of Wilson and Com-
pany, Engineers, a competent engineer, and providing for the submission thereof,
all preliminary to the issuanceof bonds by said City to pay the City's shareof the
cost of said acquisition, development and improvement as heretofore duly authorized
by the qualified electors of said City."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
Exlice, Lake and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Ramsey absent. Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 1767.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 180 and 181, Resolution
Book Number 6.
