04-08-2010 Minutes S ALINA/S ALINE C OUNTY L AW E NFORCEMENT A DVISORY C OMMITTEE A PRIL 8, 2010 Members Present: Dorothy Armster, Tony Blair, Lucila Corley, Sister Esther Pineda, Bill Gerry, James D. Hill, Glen Kochanowski, Recording Secretary Ann Haden. President Tony Blair brought the meeting to order. Minutes of the February 11, 2010 meeting were approved. New Business. Sister Esther advised that Sisters Margaret Nacke and Mary Savoie have been attending sessions on the subject of human trafficking and would like to make a short presentation to the Advisory Committee. They have spoken to various groups in the Bellville area and the high school in Concordia. They would eventually like to make our community aware of this subject and hope to get feedback from this presentation on how and where they might use this knowledge to educate our community. Sister Esther will invite the Sisters to share their presentation with the Advisory Committee at the June meeting. Tony will extend an invitation to the Human Relations Committee. The meeting will be th held in Room 212 (Training Room) of the Police Department on June 10 at 7:00 a.m. Lucy advised that the Mexican Consulate recently came to Salina in order to provide official ID’s for those in need. These identification cards are accepted by local law enforcement as proper ID. They will return to offer this service again as needed. Complaints. None to report. Old Business. Chief Hill presented the board with a draft of term limits language for consideration of expanding the maximum term limits reference to Article IV, Section 3, and Article V, Section 4. Ann presented a spreadsheet showing board member’s service dates. After some discussion it was th decided to table the issue and schedule a special meeting for May 13 at 7:00 a.m. to discuss and finalize the changes. Ann will e-mail a draft of possible term limit language to all board members and see who could be th available to meet May 13. If several members are unable to attend, the changes to term limits will be finalized at the June meeting. th The next regularly scheduled meeting is June 10, 2010, 0700 at 255 N. 10 in Room 212 of the Salina Police Department.
