Members Present. Dorothy Armster, Earle Bess, Tony Blair, Lucila Corley, Gary Cummings, Sister Esther
Pineda, Joel Wimer, Bill Gerry, James D. Hill, Recording Secretary Ann Haden.
Minutes of the June 10, 2010 meeting were approved
New Business. Lucy reported some people viewed threats on Facebook stemming from the shooting in Sunset
Park last week. Chief advised these threats can be reported to police.
There are plans for an immigration march in September.
During the Tenth Bi-national Health Week in October the Salina community will host an event at the Friendship
Center on October 9, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This event will take place in 40 states in the U.S. and
Canada with participation of the Consulate of Mexico. It will be a joint campaign implemented to promote
awareness among the Latino community in Salina. Topics covered will include prevention of addictions and
gang involvement among teenagers, obesity, cancer prevention, seat belt law, prevention of accidents in minors
and disabilities.
Chief Hill reviewed the recent topic of gangs in the community.
Gary Cummings suggested that perhaps introducing the Great program to the youth held in the juvenile center
would be beneficial.
Complaints. No complaints reported.
Old Business. Sister Esther advised that Sisters Margaret Nacke and Mary Savoie wished to thank the
Advisory Committee for the opportunity to present their information on human trafficking at the June meeting.
Sister Esther advised that they have several more presentations scheduled as a result.
Ann distributed the revised bylaws and board years of service chart to all members.

The next scheduled meeting is October 14, 2010, 0700 at 255 N. 10 in Room 207 of the Salina Police
Department.
