Members Present: Dorothy Armster, Earle Bess, Tony Blair, Lucila Corley, Gary Cummings, Sister
Esther Pineda, Joel Wimer, James D. Hill, Glen Kochanowski, Bill Gerry, Recording Secretary Ann
Haden. President Tony Blair brought the meeting to order.
Minutes of the October 13, 2011 meeting were approved as presented.
New Business.
Elections were held for the following positions:
Earle Bess was re-elected to the Vice President position for a one year term.

Joel Wimer was re-elected to a 2 three-year term as board member. (Position #7)
Sister Esther Pineda resigned her position as board member, serving since 2008. Sister
Esther provided a possible board member candidate, Maribel Panuco who is the
Coordinator of Hispanic Services/Programs for Catholic Charities-Salina. Lucila Corley
provided an additional candidate to consider, Dina Giron. Dina currently serves on several
boards and is very familiar with the Hispanic community. (Position #6) These individuals
will be invited to attend a board meeting.
Sheriff Kochanowski advised tentative plans are to have a Citizen Academy in 2012.
Complaints.
Lt. Gerry advised there are no complaints to report.
Old Business.
Chief Hill advised the headset mount video cameras, which the department was testing, have
been packaged and returned to the vendor. The cameras performed very well and if funds
are available, these cameras would be an important tool for officers.
Inside Glimpse
Lt. Jim Norton, Commander of the Police Department Special Enforcement Bureau, spoke
with committee members about the purpose and accomplishments of the Drug and Gang
Units within his bureau.

The next scheduled meeting is February 9, 2012, 0700 at 255 N. 10, in Room 207 of the Salina
Police Department.
