06-24-1963 Minutes• COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas June 24, 1963 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 24, 1963. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Spangler, the roll was called and Commissioners Spangler, Bull, Exline and Rundquist and City Attorney Bengtson responded. Commissioner Tucker absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 17, 1963 were read and approved. iBids were received on Street Job 435 as follows: Brown & Brown, Inc. $112,618.00 Construction Industries, Inc. $118,188.50 Engineers Estimate $130,232.50 On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the bid was awarded to Brown & Brown, Inc. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the contract ordinance was introduced for first reading. Ordinance Passed: b � "l � . Harmon & Gregg Co. $13,274.50 $13,059.30 $12,800.00 On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist the bids were referred to the City Manager for checking & a report. Carried. Letter was received from the City Planning Commission regarding rezoning of Block 23 in Belmont Addition to Zone "D". On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Bull the recommendations by the Planning Commission report was accepted and the petition was denied. Carried. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the paving and grading of Seventh Street with concrete (Twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter) from the north side of Pacific to the south line of Harsh, the same being an intervening connecting street." On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the resolution was adopted as read and the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Bull, Exline and Rundquist (4) Nays: (0) CommissionerTucker absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2722. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providi ng for the vacation of certain streets, alleys, and easements located in the original plat of Talley Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Bull the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: j Spangler, Bull, Exline and Rundquist (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Tucker absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 6613 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." j f On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Bull the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Bull, Exline and Rundquist (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Tucker absent. Ordinance introduced for first reading 6-17-63. • On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on Job 430 - North Ohio Street Improvement for July 8, 1963. Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution finding and determining that the existence of adequate convention facilities within the City of Salina would promote, stimulate, and develop the general economic welfare and prosperity of the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Exline the resolution was approved as read and the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Bull, Exline, and Rundquist (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Tucker absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2724, Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A contract with the Union Pacific Railroad Company and the City of Salina, Kansas - WHEREAS, the Union Pacific Railroad Company has tendered to the City of Salina, State of Kansas, an agreement coverning encroachment of a 12 -inch water pipe line on the McPherson Branch right of way at Salina Kansas; said agreement being identified as Railroad Company's C. D. No. 47349." On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the resolution approved as read and the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangle;, Buil, Exline and Rundquist (4) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2725. Commissioner Tucker absent, Carried. Letter was received for the City Planning Commission regarding Beauty Shop or _ Barber Shop in A Zones. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the letter was held over for '�. Carried. Petition number 2695 was filed for the curbing, gutter & paving of East Antrim from Third to Front & from Fourth to Third. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the petition was referred to the City Manager, Carried. Petition number 2696 was filed for the vacation of the alley adjoining Lots 50, 52, 9th Street KWU Addition, On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner e the petition was referred to the City Manager. Carried. Petition number 2697 was filed for the annexation of Lots in Faith Addition. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the petition was referred the City Planning Commission, Carried, Petition number 2698 was filed in protest of trailer court site at 915 N. 12th. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the petition was referred to the City Planning Commission, Carried, Engineer filed estimate - Chicago Bridge & Iron Co, in the amount of $4,437,00.
