04-30-1963 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING 0 COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas April 30, 1963 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 30, 1963. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Spangler, the roll was called and Commissioners Spangler, Bull, Exline,Tucker Rundquist and Assistant City Attorney responded. City Attorney Bengtson absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 23, 1963 were read and approved. An ordinance was introduced for third reading entitled: "An ordinance providing that the rate of fare for passengers upon any regular line of motor buses operated under the motor buss franchise shall not exceed twenty five cents for each passenger, amending section eight of ordinance number 6117 and repealing said original section." On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6710. Ordinance introduced for first reading April 16, 1963; ordinance introduced for second reading April 23, 1963. Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: A resolution authorizing and • ordering certain street, sewer and water mains and hydrant improvements, ordering preparation of plans and specifications, and the estimate of costs." On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the resolution was approved and read and the following vote was had; Ayes: Spangler, Bull, Exline, Tucker and Rundquist (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2712. Carried. The City Clerk reported that the assessment rolls for the following improvements were ready to -wit: Curbing, guttering and paving of certain streets, installation of water main, sanitary sewers and sidewalks in Key Acres Addition as authorized by Resolution 2596 passed by the Board of Commissioners March 6, 1962, has been determined and that final costs have been filed by the City Engineer. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the City Clerk was instructed to publish a notice in the official paper at least once not less than ten days prior to the date of May 20, 1963, the date set for the hearing on said assessments, and that at the same time notice is published, to mail to the owners of the property made liable to pay the assessments, at their last known post office address, a notice of the hearing and a statement of the cost proposed to be assessed against the land so owned and assessed. Carried. Petition number 2684 was filed for the paving of Greeley Avenue in Upper Mill Heights Addition. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the petition was referred to the City Manager. Trimming & treating of Trees & Shrubs application was filed by Darrell J. Prater d/b/a Prater Tree Service. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the application was approved. Carried. • Trimming & treating of Trees & Shrubs application was filed by Ralph B. Ricklefs, Sr. & Jr., a partnership, d/b/a Kanaas Landscape & Nursery Co. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the application was approved. Carried. City Engineer filed estimate number 7 for Job 425 - Streets - Wilmoth Construction Company in the amount of $28,868.01. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate waw approved. Carried. Job 443 City Engineer filed estimate number 1 for sewers - Construction Industries in the amount of $2,423.11. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the estimate was approved. Carried. City Engineer filed estimate number 3 for street Job Number 429 - Construction Industries in the amount of $15,896.52. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the estimate was approved. Carried. City Engineer filed estimate number 1 for street Job Number 428 - Brown & Brown in the amount of $38,761.24. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was approved. Carried. estimate City Engineer filed/for taxiways at the airport Brown & Brown in the amount of $13.591.86. On motion of Commissioner Exline, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate I was approved. Carried. City Engineer filed estimate for utilities building - Construction Industries in the amount of $8,449.98. On motion of Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Tucker • the estimate was approved. Carried. • Petition number 2685 was filed for the vacation of an alley. On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Exline the petition was referred to the City Manager. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Tucker the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
