Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 8, 1963. Meeting was called
to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Banker, Bull,
Spangler and Tucker and City Attorney Bengtson responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 18, 1962 were read & approved.
Bids were received on police car. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by
Commissioner Tucker the bid was approved & awarded to low bidder subject to checking by
the Police Chief. Carried.
Bids were received on fire truck, equipment & hose. On motion of Commissioner Bull,
seconded by Commissioner Tucker the bids were referred to the Fire Chief for checking &
report. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing
for the vacation of a portion of channel road, a street within the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the ordinance was
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline,
Banker, Bull, Spangler and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 6684. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading December 18, 1962.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution authorizing
the sale of certain surplus flood control property and directing the Mayor and City Clerk
to execute a quit claim deed to E. R. McCullick."
On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the resolution
was adopted as read and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline,
Banker, Bull, Spangler and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 2685. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading December 18, 1962.
Thirty day notice up on the rezoning of the North 100 feet of the West 100 feet of
Block 9 Riker Addition to Zone "DD"; and the balance of the West 100 feet Less the South
65 feet of said Block 9, Riker Addition to Zone "C".
No protests written or oral.
On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull the rezoning
ordinance was introduced for first reading. (( Carried.
Ordinance Passed: t l b Number
Petition number 2650 was checked for sidewalks on the South side of Ralph from Roach
to Norton.
On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Banker the petition was
approved for resolution. Carried.
Petition was checked against the improvement on North Ohio - Resolution Number 2677.
The project was discontinued under the present resolutions.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution authorizing and
providing for the transfer from the General Operating Fund - Street Department to the
Machinery & Equipment Fund as provided by 68-1418, 1959 Suppl. to G. S. of Kansas 1949."
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the resolution was
adopted as read and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline,
Banker, Bull, Spangler and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is
numbered 2686. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the contract for gas
service for the calcining plant was approved. Carried.
Petition number 2655 was filed against the curb, gutter & paving of Fourth Street -
East side from Crawford to Bond.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the petition was
referred to the City Manager. Carried.
Petition number 2656 was filed for the vacation of North Second Street north from
Elm to River.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the petition was
referred to the City Manager, Carried.
Petition number 2657 was filed for the paving of Neal Avenue.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the petition was
referred to the City Manager. Carried.

Plumbers and Gas Fitters Bond was filed by Willie J. Martin & Boyd Lee.
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the bond was
approved. Carried.
Plumbers and Gas Fitters Bond was filed by Russell L. Williamson.
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the bond was
approved. Carried.
Change orders 1, 2, 3 & 4 were filed on the Utility Building.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the change orders
were approved. Carried.
Engineer filed final estimate on Water Job 436 - Brown & Brown in the amount of
$1,891.20.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was
approved. Carried.
Engineer filed partial estimate on Job 425 - Wilmoth Construction in the amount
of $22,943.54.
On motion of CommissionerBull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the estimate was
approved. Carried.
Engineer filed partial estimate to the Chicago Bridge & Iron in the amount of
$14,764.50.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was
approved. Carried.
Engineer filed estimate number 1 - Airport Taxiways - Brown & Brown in the amount
of $7,628.20.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was
approved. Carried.
Engineer filed estimate number 2 on the Utility Building - Construction Industries
in the amount of $10,148.40.
On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was
approved. Carried.
Engineer filed estimate number 9 on the Sewage Treatment Plant - Wea Construction
in the amount of $30,884.31.
On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Bull the estimate was
approved. Carried.
Petitions were filed against the No Parking on both sides of Crawford.
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the petition were
held for consideration. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker 56 Beer applications
were approved for 1963. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Bull, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the ordinance was
aproved by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes:
Exline, Banker, Bull, Spangler and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance
and it is numbered A-1150. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."

approved by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes:
