08-21-1962 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING • COMMISSIONERS ROOM Salina, Kansas August 21, 1962 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 21, 1962. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Banker, Spangler and Tucker and City Attorney Bengtson responded. Commissioner Bull absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 14, 1962 were read & approved. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance for the vacation of a certain alley within the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Banker, Spangler and Tucker (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6652. Carried. Ordinance introduced August 14, 1962 for first reading. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the vacation of a portion of Prescott Avenue in South Park Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas. On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes Exline, Banker, Spangler and Tucker (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6653. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading August 14, 1962. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance condeming certain lands within the City of Salina, Kansas, for the use of said City for the opening, widening and extending of White Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the west line of Broadway Boulevard to a point approximately eight hundred fifty feet west thereof; fixin the benefit district therefore; and providing for the payment of costs thereof. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the ordinance was adopted by sect -ions and on its final adoption the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Banker, Spangler and Tucker (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 6654. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading August 14, 1962. Walter McDaniel, Safety Engineer of State Highway appeared and presented annual inventory of traffic safety activities. Petition number 2633 was filed for the rezoning of Lot 13, Block 28, Military Addition to Zone "D". On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner the petition was referred to the City Planning Commission. Carried. • Petition number 2634 was filed for a street light on Hazel Court Drive - somewhere near the NE Cor. Lot 11. On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Spangler the petition was referred to the City Manager. Carried. A letter of resignation was received from Berkley Greiner from the Planning & Zoning Board. On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Banker the letter of resignation was accepted. Carried. City Engineer filed final estimate on Job number 410 - Wilmoth Construction Co. in the amount of $38,086.12. On motion of Commissioner Spangler, seconded by Commissioner Tucker the estimate was approved. Carried. A letter was received from the City Engineer regarding the sidewalk on east side of Ninth Street from Ash to Elm. On motion of Commissioner Tucker, seconded by Commissioner Banker the letter was referred to the City Attorney for legal proceedings. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
