06-12-1962 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEET ING • COMMIS91ONERS' ROOM SALINA, KANSAS. JUNE 12, 1962 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 12, 1962. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Exline, Bull, Banker and Spangler and City Attorney Bengtson responded. Commissioner Tucker absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 5th, 1962 read and approved. Waterworks Tank Bids held over from last week. Motion by Banker, seconded by Bull award to Chicago Bridge and Iron Company for Pedestal Spheroid Tank in the amount of $92,200.00. Carried. Bid on Truck and Chassis. Motion by Spangler seconded by Banker award to Long -McArthur as low bidder. Carried. The City Clerk reported that the assessment rolls forthe following improve- ment to -wit: Curbing, guttering and paving of certain street, installation of sanitary • sewers, water mains and hydrants in Key Acres Addition as authorized by Resolution Number 2494, passed by the Board of Commissioners on April 11, 1961 has been deter- mined and that final costs have been filed by the City Engineer. Commissioner Bull made motion that the City Clerk be directed to publish notice in the official paper at least once, not less than 10 days prior to the Date of June 26, 1962, the date. set forthe hearing on said assessments, and that at the same time notice is published to mail to the owners of property made liable to pay the assessments, 4t their last known post office address ,a notice of the hearing and a statement of the cost proposed to be assessed against the land so owned and asses Carried. Thirty days Notice up on rezoning the following property: Lots 15 through 23 inclusive of Block 9, from District "B" to to "AA" and Lots 13 and 14, Block 10, from "C" to "B", and Lots 2 through 12 inclusive, Block 10, from "C" to "A" all in Belmont Addition, Salina., Kansas, also Commencing at a point on the west right-of-way line of South Broadway Blvd (VS81) 200 feet Nort'r_ of the point of intersection of the West right-of-way line of South Broadway Boulevard and the north Right -of -Way line of Beverly Drive; thence due West 165 feet; thence due North to the South right-of-way line of Armory Road extend west across South Broadway Boulevard (US 81) trence due east to the west line of South Broadway Boulevard (US 81) thence south to the point of beginning, from Distruct "A" to District "D" all in the City of Salina, Kansas. Schwartz for the rezoning of Lots 28 and 29, Surveyor's Plat "G", Salina, Kansas from District "A" to District "DD"7 be granted. Motion by Banker, seconded by Spangler approve and City Clerk give Notice. Carried. Ordinance introducedJfor second reading entitled: "An ordinance condemning certain lands within the City of Salina, Kansas, for the use of said City for the for the opening, widening and extending of White Avenue in the City of Salina, Kan- sas from the west line of Broadway Boulevard to a point approximately Eight Hundred Fifty feet west thereof; fixing the Beneeit District therefore; and providing for the payment of costs thereof." Motion by Bull, seconded by Spangler ordinance wasread and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, B anker, Bull and Spangler (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Tucker absent. Letter from George C. Etherington requesting that his petition for the rezoning of Block 23, and part of Block 22 and Part of Block 7, in Belmont Addition be taken from the table and referred back to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Carried. Petition for vacation of a certain alley or walkway lying between Lot 6 and Lot 7, in Surveyor's Plat "G" in Salina, Kansas, from the south line of North Street to the Smoky Hill River. fl Motion by Bull, seconded by Spangler refer to City Manager., Carried. Concrete Construction Bond from Thomas L Dungey. Motion by Bull, seconded by Spangler approve. Carried. Application from Fleming Motor Company to construct Recessed Parking Area, on forth Ninth Street between Antrim and Otis, Lot 17,(Block 63, Military Addition.) Motion by Spangler, seconded by Bull approve. Carried. Mayor appointed Allen R. Dodge to Salina Recreation Commission in place of Dr. Frank A. Mitchell, to serve from June 9th, 1962 to_ Jone 9t , 1966. Motion by Spangler, seconded by Bull approve. Carried. Ordinance introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropri for the payment of certain claims."
