JANUARY 2, 1962
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 23 1962. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Bull, the roll was called and Commissioners Bull, Banker,
Exline, Spangler and Tucker and City Attorney Bengtson responded.
The minute s of the Regular Meeting of December 26, 1961 read and approved
as read.
Report on bids Police Cars and Truck.
Motion by Spangler, seconded by Banker award to Marshall Motor Company, Inc.,
for Police Cars and Warta Motor Company for Truck; as of date December 26, 1961. Carried.
Report on bids for Tractor L6ader.
Motion by Spangler, seconded by Tucker award to Foley Tractor Company, as of
December 26th, 1961, subject to demonstration that it will do the work. Carried. •
Report on bids for Air Compressor.
Motion by Exline, seconded by Tucker award to Lovan Machinery Company, as of
December 26th, 1961. Carried.
Ordinance introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating the
administrative departments for the City of Salina, Kansas; and designating the various
officers, employees and departments and Sub -Divisions thereof amending Section 2-301
and Section 2-302 of the code of the City of Salina, Kahsas; 1960 and repealing said
original sections."
Motion by Exline, seconded by Tucker ordinance was read and edopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Bull, B anker, Exline, Spangler and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is Numbered 6591. (Ordinance first reading December 26, 1961)
Ordinance introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance defining the
duties of the various department heads of the department of service which is created for
the Administration o Affairs relative to Public Improvements, Streets, Alleys,Storm
Sewers, Parks and Refuse, amending Section 2-304 of the Code of the City of Salina,
Kansas, 1960, and repealing the original section."
Motion by T ucker seconded by Exline, ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Bull, Banker, Exline, Spangler and Tucker (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance

duties of the Director of Utilities, Department Heads and Employees of the Department
of Waterworks and Sewage, amending Section 2-308 of the code of the City of Salina, •
Kansas, 1960, and repealing said original section."

sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;

Persons appeared as to why Natural Gas could not be used on Trailers.

Report on the purchase of land on the Southwest corner of Highland Avenue and
Prescott Avenue for street widening purposes.
Motion by Tucker, seconded by Spangler approve ordinance to make Highland Avenue
and Eighth Street a thoroughfare. Carried.

of progress being made under their Franchise Ordinance.

Motion by Spangler, seconded by Banker approve. Carried.

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, January 2nd, 1962. Meeting was called to
order by Mayor Bull, the roll was called and Commissioners Bull, Banker, Exline, Spang-
ler and Tucker and City Attorney Bengtson responded.
Building Application from Roy Batcheller for Side Yard Waiver at 909 Nbrth
Tenth Street.
Motion by Spangler, seconded by Banker refer back to Building Inspector.
Hearing was held on Appeal Notice filed by Edward F.Stegeman for Side Yard Waiver
at 220 East Beloit Street, known as Lot 11, East Beloit , Addition to Grounds of Kansas
Wesleyan University, City of Salina, Kansas.
No protests.
Resolution introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to the authori-
zation of non-compliance with the Side Yard Requirements of Ordinance Number 5549 for
Lot 11, on East Beloit Street, Addition to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University in the
City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, Address 220 East Beloit."
Motion by Spangler, seconded by Tucker resolution was adopted as read by the fol-
