Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ramsey, the roll was called and Commissioners Ramsey, Exline, Jaeger and McCune and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Bull absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 17th, 1960 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina, Journal bids were received on Station Wagon for Salina Fire Department as follows: Peterson -Pontiac $2500.00 Sid Bacon Motor Company $2237.00 Marshall Motor Company $2134.75 Jim Sullivan Chevrolet Company $$2115.00 Long -McArthur, Inc., $2147.32 • Commissioner Jaeger moved to refer to Fire Chief and City Manager to check and report. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying assessments on Lots, pieces and parcels of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, for the purpose of paying a portion oft he cost of : The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of gutter Shawnee Avenue from the south line of Crawford. Avenue to the east line of oeminole Avenue. The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of gutter, Seminole Avenue from the west line of Shawnee Avenue to the north line of Republic Avenue. The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of gutter, Mohawk Avenue from the south lire of Lot 16, Block 6, of Sunset Manor Addition, to the north line of Republic Avenue. The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of gutter, Franklin Avenue from the east line of Mohawk to the west line of Shawnee. On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the followin vote was had; Ayes: Ramse,, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6446. The following letters received from City Panning and Zonirg Commission: Recommending that Petition Num er 2358 filed by Paul V. Adrian for permission • to use Lots 4 and 5 in Talley Addition as a Trailer Park be approved. Commissioner McCune moved to accept and City Clerk advertise for Hearirg . An ordinance was introduced for secordteading entitled: "An ordinance relating • to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gutterin , paving and gradin Clark Street Thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Armory Road to a point 136.5 feet north of the north line of South Street, and paving and grading of Franklin Street Twenty-eight (28) feet wide f rom tree of gutter to toe of gutter, with two T27 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east side of Custer Street to the west line of Sheridan Street; paving and grading Fifth Street with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Harsh Avenue tothe south line of Euclid Avenue; curbing, gut- tering, paving and grading of Max Avenue with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, f rom the east lire of Quincy Street to the west line of Norton Street; curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Quincy Street Thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Leslie Avenue to the north line of Wayne Avenue; and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6447. The following letters received from City Panning and Zonirg Commission: Recommending that Petition Num er 2358 filed by Paul V. Recommending that Petition Number 2362 filed by One Hundred North Santa Fe Company, Inc., for rezoning Lots 14, 15, 16 and North 150 feet of Lot 19, in Surveyors Plat 81 be rezoned to "D" and that the balance of Lot 19, except the south 100 feet of the West 150 feet be rezoned to "C" be approved. Commissioner McCune moved to accept and City Clerk advertise. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing a contract between Land, Inc., and the City of Salin,�,Kansas, a Municipal Corporation." On motion of Commissioner McCune the resolution was adopted as read and on its final Adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the Resolution and it is Numbered 2360. A resolution was ' passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Antrim Avenue with Concrete:, Thirty-three (33) feet wide, from back of curb to back of curb, from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east line of Fourth Street." On motion of Commissioner McCune, the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor ap- proved the resolution and it is Numbered 2362. A resolution was introduced for first reading for construction of sidewalks on Gebhart Street from Cloud Street to Charlotte Street. 7 Resolution passed: ��✓ ? ( r � C, Number ��) I A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to appointment of Douglas Hill as appraiser for the Salina Flood Control Project to take the place of Ira Huntington, to serve with Norman Grant and Berkley Greiner, heretofore appointed by Resolution Number 2325•" On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was aal.led and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2363. Applicationfor driveway at 1016 East Crawford Avenue. Two �5-ft. on Crawford and two �gft. on Ohio . Commissioner McCune moved to approve for 35 -ft. driveways only. Carried. Calvin H. Bowden and Associates, Architects and Engineers, filed Final Estimate in the amount of $1,112.60 to T&lson Constructors for improvements in Indian Rock Park. Commissioner McCune moved to approve - less :200.00. Tom Lillard3 submitted a report of proceedings in the oral arguments before the Civil Aeronautics Board, held in Washington, D. C. Report ordered filed. Concrete Construction Boni presented f rom Leland A. Bass. Approved by Commissioner Exline. The follotwi ng petitions w ere presented and on motion of Commissioner Jaeger referred to City Manager: For vacation of a portion of South Street near the Smoky Hill River. Concrete Paving, Kansas Avenue from Elm Street to Riverside Boulevard. Curbinn;g, guttering and paving Otis Street from Third Street to Front Street. Commissioner McCune moved that resolution be introduced for first reading for paving with concrete, Wilson Street from East line of Hancock Street to West line"of Merrill Street. Resolution passed: ( �� Number Application for Cereal Malt beverage License was presented from Robert G. Graybeal, d/b/a "The Hideway Tavern" 111 North Seventh Street. Commissioner McCune moved to hold over one week, aid refer to City Attorney and Police Department for approval. • The following ordinances introduced for first reading: (By Commissioner Exline) Levying special assessments for curbing, guttering and paving certain streets provided for in Job 390. Number Commissioner McCune moved to authorize The Salina Transit Company not to run on Sunday, and the City Attorney prepare the legal requirements as to when it can be done • Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed Estimate Number 2, Semi -Final, in the amourt of $1,466.93 to King Construction Company, for Channel Crossing - Phase II, (Muir Crossing ) Approved by Commissioner Exline. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appro- priation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner McCune the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Exline, McCune and Jaeger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Bull absent.
