Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ramsey, the roll was called and Commissioners Ramsey, Bull, ExliM,McCune and Jaeger and ,Acting, City Attorney Bengtson responded. City Attorney Barta brie.%.�;/!/c//�,,e✓ The minutes of the Regular Meetin gof April 26th, 1960 and Zoning Board Meet- ing of April 26th, 1960 were read and approved as read. Chief of Police, Salmans, gave report on Traffic in 100 Block on South Santa Fe Avenue. Commissioner McCune made motion for him to make Final Report in two weeks. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for sanitary land fill which is staked out at the City Dump Grounds on the Municipal Airport ( Job 405) as follows: • Orval Bettles, Herngton, Kansas $6600.00 O.D. Wilmoth Construction Company, Salina,Ks. $7500.00 Engineers Estimate $6900.00 Commissioner McCune moved that contract be awarded to Orval Bettles, as per bid submitted in the amount of $6600.00. The following resolutions were introduced for second reading: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and gradingof Otis Street with concrete, Thirty-three (33) feet aide fromback of curb to back of curb from the east line of Fourth Street tothe east line of Santa Fe Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Bull, Exline, McCune and Jaeger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolu- tion and it is Numbered 2350. "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Ellsworth Avenue with concrete, Twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the east line of Lewis Street tothe West line of Ohio Street." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the Following vote was had; Ramsey, Bull, Exline., McCune and Jaeger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2351• • "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Fourth Street with concrete, Twenty-eight (28) feet wide, from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the South line of Antrim Avenue tothe South line of Otis Avenue." On motion of Comissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the Following vote was had: Ayes: Ramsey, Bull, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2352. "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Fourth Street with con- crete, Twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the north line of Otis Avenue tothe South line of Euclid Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was =adopted 'as: read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Bull, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2355. I "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Russell Avenue with concrete, Thirty-three (33) feet wide from back of curb toback of curb, from the west line of Quincy Street to the East line of Osborne Street." I An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with the Brown and Brown Construction Company, for f the construction of certain improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing forthe issuance of temporary notes to paythe cost thereof pending ! the issuance and sale of bonds. On motion of Commissioner Jaeger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Bill, Exline, McCune and Jaeger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordina and it is Numbered 6441. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with the Brown and Brown Construction Company for the construction of certain improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Letter received relating to request of Land, Inc., for inclusion of its pro- posed Key Acres into the City of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner McCune moved to file and ask City Attorney to report at next mee Letter received from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition Number 2344 filed by J. Earl Wyatt for t he rezoning of Lot 5, Block 6, in South Park Addition from Zone "A" to Zone "B" be approved. Commissioner McCune moved to accept and City Clerk publish notice. Trust Deed, with a deposit of $200.00, for the perpetual care of Lot 62, Block "B" in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery received from Marie Crowther. Trust Deed approved by Commissioner McCune. Resolution introduced and passed providing for the opening, widening and ex- tending Pale Avenue from south line of Talley Drive to North line of Andrew Avenue; Beverly Drive from the west line of Broadway Boulevard to a point 156 feet West; Haskett Avenue from South line of Talley Drive to South 164 feet; and Albert Avenue from east line of Ohio Street to center line of Smoky Hill River." On motion of Commissioner Bull the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called andthe following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey,Bull, E4ine, Jaeger and McCune (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2355• Commissioner Jaeger moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 1 23, 424 and 425* Ordinance passed: � �� �0 '1 �(� C)Number � 3 Letter received from Federal Aviation Agency, for consideration of a lease for the storage space in Hangar Number 1, on the Municipal Airport at Salina, Kansas, which is being used for the flight service station. Commissioner McCune moved to approve. Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted Estimate Number 1 inthe amount of $6,034.8o, to M. W. Hills Construction Company, Salina, Kansas, for High Sera'ice Pump and Appurtenances. Estimate approved by Commissioner Bull. Application for driveway at 1118 North Ninth Street (on Antrim), received from William Reimold. Application approved by Commissioner Exline. Petition for rezoning Lot 15, ( except the North 28 feet thereof) and all of Lots 17 and 19, Block 8, Hutchinson's Addition from "A" to "B" was received from F. S. Daml.er. On motion of Commissioner McCune referred to City Planning Commission. The following petitions were presented and on motion of Commissioner I,icCune referred to City Manager: For paving Wilson Street from Hancock to Merrill. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims " On motion of Commissioner Bull the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Bull, Exline, Jaeger and McCune (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-1015.
