04-19-1960 Minutes Organizational. COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS APRIL 19th, 1960 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners April 19th, 1960. Meeting was called to order b Mayor McCune, the roll was called and Commissiomrs McCune, Bull, Exline, Jaeger and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta,responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 12th, 1960 and Zoning Board Meeting of April 12th, 1960 wereiead and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for improving certain streets in the East one-half of Shalimar Plaza Addition• (Job 1100) as follows: 0. D. Wilmoth Construction Company $1113,010.00 Brown and Brown, Inc., $14.42583.75 Engineers Estimate 41463581.00 • On motion of Commissioner Ramsey contract was awarded to 0. D. Wilmoth Construe - tion Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $143,010.00 and check returned to unsuccessful bidder. Commissioner Ramsey moved that contract ordinance for improving certain streets in the East One -Half of Shalimar Plaza. Addition (Job 400) be introduced for first readin . City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for street improvements provided for in 'Job Number 402) and(Job Number 403) Approved by Commissioner Jaeger and City Clerk directed to advertise for bids to be received April 26th, 1960 at four o'clock P. M. A resolution was introduced and passed providing for appointment of three appraisers for Flood Damages. On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its • final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: McCune, Bull, Exline, Jaeger and Ramsey (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 2325. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A esolution determi ing necessity of and directing that the owner or owners ofeertain lots construct, in cmpliance with plans and specifications of the City Engineer, a sidewakk, abutting said lots within thirty days of the adoption and publication hereof and providing that in the event the owner or owners fail to do so, that the City of Salina shall proceed to con- struct or c a,ise t.,nhe constructed said sidewalk and that the total cost thereof shall be assessed against such lot or lots on which such sidewalk shall abut as other special assessments." Roll called and, Commissioners Bull, Exline, Jaeger, McCune and Ramsey and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Exline nominated Carl Ramsey as Mayor and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas. Carried. Commissioner Ramsey nominated R. W.Bull as Acting Mayor and Vice Chairman of the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Oalina, Kansas. Carried. City Clerk turned gavel over to Mayor Ramsey Letter regarding dedication of streets in Indian Rock Addition. Commissioner McCune moved to approve and refer to City Attorney for Resolution. City Engineer filed Final Estimate in the amount of $3,529.76 to O.D. ffilmoth Construction Company for Street Improvement Job 390. Estimate approved by Commissioner McCune. Plumber and Gas Fitter Bond received from,Vohn Ohlemeier. Approved by Commissioner McCune. 0 . Trust Deeds with a deposit of $550.00 received from Madge Craig, for perpetual care of the following lots in the Gypsum Hill Cemtery, Salina, Kansas: Lot 36, Block 12 Lot 5, Block 1 South 1/2 Lit 37, Block 9. Trust Deeds approved by Commissioner Jaeger. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.T' On motion of Commissioner Jaeger the ordinance vas read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final Adoption the roll was called and the follovd ng vote was had; Ayes: Ramsey, Bull, Exline , McCune and Jaeger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-1012.
