08-12-1968 Minutes471 COMMISSIONERS' ROOM Salina, Kansas August 12, 1968 The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met at 4:00 o'clock on August 12, 1968. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Yost, the roll was called and Commissioners Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. The Minutes, of the Regular Meeting of August 5, 1968, were approved as mailed.. A Public Hearing was held on the 1969 Proposed Budget. A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to approve the Budget as published. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried. A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to introduce the 1968 Tax Levy Ordinance for the 1969 Budget, for first reading. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion Carried. Ordinance Passed: Qu�u��- 19 196F Number: 90 q g . The City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Marymount Sidewalk Job 501. A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark to approve the Plans and Specifications and to instruct the City Clerk to advertise for bids to be received August 19, 1968. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion Carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE adopting i the 1967 Edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, Amending Section 9-260 of The Salina Code and repealing the I original section." i A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to adopt the ordinance by sections and on the final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the Ordinance and it is numbered 7077. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading August 5, 1968. I j The City Attorney reported on Surety on Bail Bond License Applications for: Ralph Bennett, d/b/a B & K Bonding. Jack Kindelspargar, Agent for B & K Bonding. E. P. Nichols, d/b/a Nichols Bonding Company. I � and recommended they be approved. A motion was made by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist to accept the City Attorney's Recommendation and approve the Licenses.' Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Licenses approved. Applications for the Renewal of Merchant Police License was filed by: Willie Beard, 416 Washington j Donald Meerian, 916 East Ash j A motion was made by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to approve the i licenses. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Licenses approved. I i An application for the Treating of Trees and Shrubs License was filed by Lowell Montgomery, d/b/a Montgomery Termite and Pest Control, Bridgeport, Kansas. License approved. i A motion was made by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, to introduce an ordinance for first reading for the 1968 Weed Mowing Assessments. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried. i Ordinance Passed: Number:_ pr�q A motion was made by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist, to instruct the City Clerk to advertise for bids for Sanitary Sewers to serve Tucker Park I jAddition, North Fifth Street, from Euclid north to the Flood Control Dike, and Prospect } Street, from Ohio Street east 2,052 feet, to be received on August 26, 1968. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Motion carried. F� Petition Number 3012 was filed by Mrs. J. D. Goben, for the vacation of the north and south alley first west of Santa Fe Avenue, between Republic and Beloit. A a motion was made by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to refer the petition to the City Manager to be checked, and for a report on August 19, 1968. Ayes: (5) Nays: (0). Motion carried. A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A RESOLUTION by the City Commission of Salina, Kansas, amending Resolution Number 2997, approving the undertaking of surveys and plans for an Urban Renewal Project and filing of an application by the Urban Renewal Agency of Salina, Kansas, in connection with the Central City Project in Salina, Kansas." r A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to approve the Resolution as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5).
