The Minutes, of the Regular Meeting of June 17, 1968, were approved as mailed.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE establishint

court costs for the Municipal Court of the City of Salina, Kansas for violation of the
I
ordinances of Salina, Kansas."
A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer to
approve the ordinance by sections and Section 1 was amended from $1.00 and $2.00 to read

$4.00 and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist,
Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 7067.
Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading June 10, 1968.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ratifying
and confirming a contract with Brown & Brown, Inc. for the construction of certain
improvements in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary

notes to pay the cost thereof, pending the issuance and sale of bonds." -
A motion was made by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist,
to approve the ordinance by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had:
Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered 7068. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading
June 17, 1968.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE changing
the names of two streets located within the City of Salina, Kansas."
A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer,

approve the ordinance by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had:
Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the

ordinance and it is numbered 7069. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading
June 17, 1968.
A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark that
if a meeting can be arranged with the Salina City Planning Commission this week, a report
will be made on July 1, 1968 on Petition 2906, filed by the Smoky Hill Development Company,
Inc., for the rezoning to allow Riverside Mall. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0).
The City Manager reported that Mr. Reissig was on vacation, and he would contact
him for more signers for the paving of Anderson Street on Petition Number 3001, when he
returns.
Mr. Blackwell, Attorney, representing Mr. Ewell Dawson for a Beer Application
for Chapparal, Inc, was present asking that the application be approved. A motion was
made by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist that the application be

held over until July 1, 1968, when the City Attorney will report on Class "A" Clubs.
An application was filed by Clarence M. Smith, 1120 North Fourth Street, for
renewal of his Merchant Police License. A motion was made by Commissioner Casebeer,
seconded by Commissioner Stark to approve the license. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Approved.
A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Stark to

introduce an ordinance for first reading for special assessments for the repair of certain
sidewalks. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Approved.

Petition Number 3003 was filed by Glenn Mason for the Rezoning of Lot 12, Block 5,'
Replat of Faith Addition to District "DD". A motion was made by Commissioner Casebeer,
seconded by Commissioner Waddell to refer the petition to the Salina City Planning Commission.
Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Carried.
Petition Number 3004 was filed by Melvin Crowder for a sewer line on Prospect
Street. A motion was made by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist to
refer the petition to the City Engineer to be checked. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Carried.

A Representative of the Kansas Highway Department presented a Special Traffic
Law Enforcement Award and Accident Record Award in the 1967 Kansas Traffic Safety Program
for Class B Cities (10,001 to 75,000 population) to Mayor Yost, who in turn presented them
to Captain Brown and Chief Richardson.
A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer
to introduce an ordinance for first reading prohibiting the keeping of bees within the
City Limits. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Carried.

A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer
to instruct the City Engineer to prepare a feasibility report for set back sidewalks on
the west side of Marymount Road from Ruskin Road to Starlight Drive. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0).
Carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer
to approve a statement from Bucher and Willis for CRP Services in the amount of $7,200.00.
Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Approved.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims." (payroll)
A motion was made by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Stark to
approve the ordinance by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had:
Ayes: Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is numbered A-1441. Carried.
On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
