COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING
COMMISSIONERS' ROOM

June 3, 1968
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners met at 4:00 o'clock on June 3, 1968.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Yost, the roll was called and Commissioners Yost,
Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded.`
The Minutes, of the Regular Meeting of May 27, 1968, were approved as mailed.
The Mayor proclaimed June 9, 1968 "RACE UNITY DAY!'.
The Mayor proclaimed the week of June 4 through 11, 1968, "SHELTERED WORKSHOP WEEK"
sponsered by Occupational Center of Central Kansas, Inc.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE providing
for the vacation of a certain easement located in Block 9,in the Replat of Blocks Four (4),
Five (5), and Six (6) of the Replat of Lots One (1) to Fifteen (15), inclusive, Garden Home
Addition to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas."
On a motion by Commissioner Rundquist, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the
ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes
Yost, Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and
it is numbered 7061. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading May 27, 1968.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE providing fo
the examination and license fee for Taxi Cab Drivers; amending Section 34-89 of The Salina
Code and repealing the original section."
On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist, the ordinan
was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Yost,
Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 7062. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading May 27, 1968.
? An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE relative to
the expiration of Taxi Cab Drivers Licenses; providing the procedure and fee for renewal
j thereof; amending Section 34-96 of The Salina Code and repealing the original section."
On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the ordinance
was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Yost,
Casebeer, Rundquist, Stark, Waddell (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is
numbered 7063. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading May 27, 1968.
The City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Job 494 for Ridgeview Addition
Improvements. A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark to
approve the Plans and Specifications and to instruct the City Clerk to advertise for bids to
be received on June 17, 1968. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Carried.
A Representative of the VFW was present, asking permission to erect a monument or
marker at the base of the flag pole in the Veteran Section of the Gypsum Hill Cemetery for
annual Memorial Day Services. A motion was made by Commissioner Stark, secanded by Commissior
Rundquist to grant permission to the VFW and to work with the City Staff for proper location
of the monument. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0). Carried.
The Mayor, with the approval of the City Commissioners, reappointed Robert Hansmann
to the Zoning Board of Appeals to serve a 3 year term until May 8, 1971.
City Engineer filed Estimate Number 1 to Presley Builders for Carver Center Bath
House - Job 493 - in the amount of $10,077.61. On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded
by Commissioner Rundquist,the estimate was approved. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0)
City Engineer filed Estimate Number 2 to Lucas Plumbing and Heating for East North
Street Water and Sewer - Job 492 - in the amount of $5,482.37. On a motion by Commissioner
Stark, seconded by Commissioner Rundquist, the estimate was approved. Ayes; (5). Nays: (0).
City Engineer filed Estimate Number 1 to Brown and Brown, Inc. for Machine Laid
Asphalt - Job 496 - in the amount of $7,618.29. On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded
by Commissioner Rundquist, the estimate was approved. Ayes: (5). Nays: (0).
On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
