02-12-1968 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS' ROOM Salina, Kansas February 12, 1968 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners February 12, 1968. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Yost, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. Commissioner Waddell absent. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of February 5, 1968, were read and approved. The Mayor proclaimed the week of February 11, 1968 "NATIONAL CRIME PREVENTION WEEK". Hearing was held on Resolution Number 2971, for Sanitary Sewer and Water Main improvements - Job 492. (East North Street) No protests, written or oral, were filed. On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the hearing was adjourned. A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A RESOLUTION determining the advisability of sanitary sewer and water main improvements, estimating the cost thereof, defining the boundaries of the improvement district, method of assessment, and apportioning the cost between the improvement district and the City at Large." i On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the Resolution was adopted as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark Yost (4). Nays: (0). Commissioner Waddell absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is numbered 2974. Carried. D. L. Harrison, City Clerk On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the contract for the Multi-purpose Building with Max Bishop, Architects was ratified. Approved. A letter of resignation was received from George Johnson as a member of the Housing Authority. On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the resignation was accepted. 4 The Mayor, with the approval of the Board of Commissioners, appointed the following: Building Board of Appeals - Ron Richmond appointed to fill the unexpired term of James Cleary. Zoning Board of Appeals - Robert Hansmann appointed to fill the unexpired term of James Cleary. Housing Authority - Gene Yockers appointed to fill the unexpired term of George Johnson i A Tree and Shrub Trimming application was filed by Kansas Landscape and Nursery Company, 1416 East Iron Avenue. On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by ICommissioner Yost the application was approved. I A Cemetery Trust Deed was filed for the perpetual care of 3 spaces in Lot 34, Block 24, Gypsum Hill Cemetery, by Mrs. Charles H. Carroll, Sr. On a motion by i Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the Trust Deed was approved. t Mr. Pestinger, North Fifth Street, appeared asking about sewer service for his j property. The Commissioners delayed action until the East side of Fifth Street is brought into the City Limits so there can be a Benefit District. He also wanted Flood Protection for the rest of his property, which is about I50% outside the Flood Control Dike. The Commissioners told Mr. Pestinger, they would � check with the Corps of Engineers to see if it is feasible. I c The Board of Commissioners went on record to congratulate Sgt. Herb Clark, who was named Police Officer of the Year. They also made mention of Lt. Cameron and Lt. Lambdin on the high grades they received on a training course of training Police personnel at KU. The City Engineer filed Final Estimate on Job 480 - Brown & Brown, Inc. - Street Improvements - in the amount of $14,885.12.
