01-22-1968 Minutesf' 1 1 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS — REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS' ROOM Salina, Kansas January 22, 1968 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 22, 1968. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting, of January 15, 1968, were read and approved. Bids were received for Job 491, South Industrial Area Sewer and Water Mains. Lucas Plumbing and Heating $31,303.55 Brown & Brown, Inc. 36,696.84 P & H Construction Company 41,468.59 Engineer's Estimate 40,266.50 On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the bids were referred to the City Engineer to be checked, and the contract is to be awarded next week. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 6613 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 7036. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading on January 8, 1968. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE providing for the vacation of Dewey Street located in White Acres, Subdivision to the City of Salina,: Saline County, Kansas." I On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 7037. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading on January 15, 1968. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "AN ORDINANCE providing for the opening of a portion of the alley located between Second Street and Front Street in Block Six in Hutchinson Addition to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas." On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 7038. Carried. Ordinance was introduced for first reading on January 15, 1968. A letter was received from the Salina City Planning Commission recommending Petition Number 2977 for the Rezoning of a part of the South 2 of the West 2 of the Northwest Quarter of Section 36, Township 13, Range 3 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian to District "G", be approved. On a motion by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the recommendation was accepted and the petition was approved, and an ordinance for the rezoning was introduced for first reading. Ordinance Passed: ._�r ,,. �i� Number: A letter was received from the Salina City Planning Commission recommending the proposed Salina Municipal Airport Zoning Ordinance be adopted. On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the recommendation was accepted and the Salina Municipal Airport Zoning Ordinance was introduced for first reading. Ordinance Passed:--��� 1 �� ub Number: i o S A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A RESOLUTION DIRECTING the City Engineer to prepare a feasibility report relative to the advisability of the installation of certain sanitary sewer and water mains within the City of Salina." On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the Resolution was adopted as read and the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the Resolution and it is numbered 2970. Carried. 418 A letter was received from James Cleary, resigning as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Building Board of Appeals. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the resignation was accepted. A Pool Hall application was received for the All Star Lanes at 624 South Broadw On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the application was approved. The City Manager reported on the Street Lights for Eastborough Road, East North Street, and North Fifth Street. The cost of installing underground wires is prohibitive and since no additional poles would be needed for the original offer from KP & L, he recommended acceptance of that proposal. On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the recommendation was accepted and the original offer from KP & L, as presented, was accepted. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (S). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-1419. Carried. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, the Board of Commissioners adjourned. D. L. Harrison, Acting City Clerk
