01-15-1968 Minutes116 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS' ROOM Salina, Kansas January 15, 1968 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 15, 1968. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Casebeer, Waddell, Yost, Assistant City Attorney Haggart and City Manager Olson responded. Commissioner Stark and City Attorney Bengtson absent. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting, of January 8, 1968, were read and approved. The Mayor proclaimed the week of January 21 to 28 as Jaycee's Week. The City Engineer reported on Petition Number 2980, which was referred to him on January 8, 1968, which requested the reopening of the alley first east of Second Street from Wilson Street south to Lots 3 and 4, Block 6, Hutchinson Addition. The City Engineer recommended 112 feet of the alley be reopened. On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the recommendation was accepted and the ordinance for the reopening of the alley was introduced for first reading. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the plans and specifications were accepted and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids to be received on January 22, 1968. Carried. Pool Hall Applications were filed by: Carl Hardesty for the Club Royal at 118 South Santa Fe Brad B. Buell for the Union Station Tavern at 717 Bishop. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the applications were approved. Tree Trimming Applications were filed by: Cecil Heart Tree Service, 613 Montrose M. R. Welsh, 609 West Elm Darrell Prater, Prater's Tree Service, Route # 3 Dale Vanderbilt, 1027 Park Cloyd Prater, Twin VAlley Nursery, 450 North Ohio On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the applications were approved. A proposal was filed by Kansas Power and Light Company for providing Street Lights on the 3 newly annexed areas. (North Fifth Street, East North Street, Eastborough j Road) at a cost of $49.85 a month. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the proposal was held over until the meeting of January 22, 1968. Petition Number 2981 was filed by Wyatt Manufacturing Company to vacate a portion of Dewey Street, west from Roosevelt Street. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, li seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the petition was approved and an ordinance was introduced for first reading. Carried. The Mayor, with the approval of the City Commissioners, reappointed Glen VanCleef to the Band Trustees for a three year term to January 15, 1971. The City Engineer filed Final Estimate for Job 481 - Brown and Brown, Inc., in the amount of $5,943.50. On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer, the estimate was approved.
