10-23-1967 Minutes6A 4 r_i9 N COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS - REGULAR MEETING ' I COMMISSIONERS' ROOM Salina, Kansas October 23, 1967 I Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 23, 1967. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Rundquist, the roll was called and Commissioners Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost, City Attorney Bengtson and City Manager Olson responded. The Minutes, of the Regular Meeting of October 16, 1967, were read and approved. Bids were received on $480,000.00 General Obligation Bonds: I Series'P-204 for $155,000.00 for 20 years for street and sanitary sewer improvements. Series P-205 for $325,000.00 for 10 years for street improvements. The bids were opened and tabulated by the City Clerk. A Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark to award the bid to George K. Baum & Company as the low bidder with lowest interest cost to the City. On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, a Bond Ordinance was introduced for first Dreading for Series P-204. Carried. Ordinance Passed: ���^ h�� Number: On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Stark, a Bond Ordinance was introduced for first reading for Series P-205. Carried. Ordinance Passed: i 1�c% , Number: .70(2 The City Manager reported on Police Car bids, which were received on October 16th. I On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Yost, the bid was awarded to Long -McArthur, Inc., providing they sign an agreement to make delivery in 50 plus 10 days from October 30th and if they fail to do so, to pay the City the amount of the cost of maintenance on the present operational vehicles; and to sign the agreement by 12:00 o'clock noon, Wednesday, October 25th. If Long -McArthur, Inc. will not sign, then the bid goes to the next low bidder on their bid of 30 plus 10 days on the same basis of delivery. On a motion by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, the ordinance pertaining to side yard fences and hedges and regulating the height was tabled for two weeks to November 6th. The City Manager reported on Petition 2971, which is a request for street light at 11th and Brown Streets, and recommended installation of lights at points A & B as shown on the map. A motion was made by Commissioner Stark, seconded by Commissioner Yost to accept. A motion was made by Commissioner Casebeer, seconded by Commissioner Waddell to amend the motion to have the street signs under the street lights when possible. The motion, as amended, carried. j The City Manager reported on Petition 2973, which is a request for water service north of US 81 By-pass and UPRR, and that this was being taken care of by the Water Dept. through the installation of approximately 500 feet of a 12 inch line. On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the petition was approved. A motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Casebeer to approve the Golf Course Project Agreement No. 15-000-80 between the City of Salina and the State -of Kansas, and authorize the Mayor to sign. Carried. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "AN ORDINANCE making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Stark, the ordinance was adopted by sections and on its final adoption the following vote was had: Ayes: Rundquist, Casebeer, Stark, Waddell, Yost (5). Nays: (0). Mayor approved the ordinance j and it is numbered A-1405. Carried. * On a motion by Commissioner Waddell, the Board of Commissioners adjourned. H. E. Peterson, City Clerk * On a motion by Commissioner Yost, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, Resolution Number 2960 was passed for Temporary Notes PT -82 in the amount of $68,385.80.
